Enjoy your videos. What yacht is that and it's size? She is a very pretty girl. I'm in love with the Oyster 745.

Thanks for watching. S/V Quetzal is a Cabo Rico 56. Only two were built.

Great video! How do you like your Leisure Furl? How many degrees off the wind can you raise and lower it? Have you been in big seas going down wind where you had an issue reefing it/lowering it more? I ask since I have a different brand inboom furler but am looking at Leisure Furl for a new boat. With my current boat I need to head up to 30 degrees or closer to use it so that is a limitation with my current brand.

We love our LeisureFurl boom but you must follow the rules. Break em and you’ll have challenges. The sail needs to be de-powered to raise and lower. You can do that be heading up into the wind or by easing the main sheet until the sail is sufficiently de-powered. What brand do you have?

@@TheCorsair Thanks for responding. I have the FurlBoom (US company) on a 42 foot monohull and in general I am very happy with it. I am sure I can reef a bit downwind but doubt I could furl it all the way in if more than 60 deg to wind. Can't say I have tried to lower it a lot going downwind in heavy weather. The issue comes up if you are in an established downwind situation with very large seas (and perhaps some sharp waves) and then want to reef more, whether with Leisure Furl you can get enough tension off of the luff to do that without having to turn the boat around into heavy seas and wind? Also, I mainly apply Sailkote McLube a few times a year to the luff, which I think helps a lot. Do you have any special treatements you do to keep the tension as low as possible?

I see you are using a Rocna Vulcan. How do you like the anchor. I have a boat with a spirit and seems like a logical choice for me. Great sailing and scenery

It’s as good as any of the other options.
