Inspiring video Captain Sparrow, thanks for sharing. Also interesting to see from your tracks that SV SeaSprite points so well.

I'm looking at making this passage in a few months. Did you come around Virginia Beach? If so where did you cut back over to Manteo at?
@TheCorsair3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, there is no way to safely go outside and then cut back in to Manteo. In theory one could come in the Oregon Inlet but even the big sport fishers regularly run into trouble there. We took the VA cut of the ICW from Portsmouth to Coinjock and then sailed the North River to the Albermarle Sound and then into the Roanoke Sound in order to reach Manteo.

The north river? Can I get 6' draft in there?

we Weve been to all those places. The showers with the steam coming out is crazy too. We are in New bern. Manteo was one of our favorite places. Cant wait to come back.

Hi i would like to do this with my Sabre 362 but i have a 6:6 draft is the water depth good enough foe this sail
@TheCorsair3 жыл бұрын
It’s doable. The trick on the sounds is the tides are wind-driven so you need to pay particular attention to that. Otherwise there is no reason why a vessel with 6’6” draft can’t access Manteo, Hatteras, Ocracoke, etc.

I keep my hunter 356 with a 5' draft and 55' mast at cobbs marina at little creek. I am relatively new to sailing keel boat. This was my 3rd season. Next year I would make the trip via Manteo to silver lake. Could you share more details on that route? Good places to stop over enroute, etc. Thanks for any info/help. I could provide email if that would work?.... pa love your videos including the ones with music.

Thanks for the compliments. I’d be happy to provide more details on the route. Send me an email and I’ll contact you direct.

Xvi wonder if we can do it with a 5'8" draft. I always looked at that route
@TheCorsair5 жыл бұрын
Not a problem. It’s very doable up to 6’6” draft. I know a couple who did it with 7’ draft.
@arekkaniewski44425 жыл бұрын
Alright, that sounds łike an option. I like to take a road less sailed. And I always wanted to see the outer banks

Hey guys, I'm making my first trip South this year. Not sure where you may be, but I'm currently anchored in Daytona. Out of Hampton, VA. I think my trip north in the spring may just use your route. I'm heading to winter in the Keys. What's your eventual destination? Love to meet up with you somewhere. Trying to build my KZbin channel, slow going! Hope we can cross paths at some point.
