What makes this amazing is how Jerry resets after every shot. It looks like he's flinching because he's so fast, however on the high speed you can see that each shot if fired precisely. I've been shooting magnum handguns almost exclusively for 15 years and I still catch myself flinching. It's very hard to train out that natural reflex, even more so when firing a small pipe bomb.

@moistexistence30904 жыл бұрын
That second hole is where the ejector rod is. It’s mainly used to cut the weight of the barrel. As you can see the revolver is a snub nose so if anyone was manly enough to carry this with him than light weight is gonna be a very important tool for carrying.

Jerry I have the 500 in the 6.5” barrel with 1/2 lug. I love the pistol and it is my absolute favorite to shoot. My biggest/only complaint about it is the grip. They made a beast of a pistol and then gave us a grip that doesn’t even fit the entire hand. I don’t know if the designer had small hands but to me it’s silly. It’s like they were trying to put a concealed carry grip on the biggest pistol. The first thing I did to mine was install a much larger grip from an aftermarket company. I wish they would offer larger to extra large grips for folks with big hands that can control the pistol and enjoy shooting it. I shoot my pistol one handed with the larger grips with ease. Before with the stock grips I could hardly control the gun with almost an entire finger not able to fit on the stock grip. An amazing pistol!

625,000 Power Factor? You know, I think you might just make major with that combination! ;-) Usually I laugh at anyone foolish enough to choose a 4" S&W .500 Magnum as his bear defense gun. Just shooting at the bear doesn't count, you actually have to hit the bear with multiple shots to get its attention, and very, very few can do that with anything bigger than a .44 Magnum. It's hard enough to do with one of those, but I pity the bear that picks on Jerry when he's carrying his .500!!! Of course, Jerry's superhuman, so he has an advantage over us mere mortals!
@keeganmobley90317 жыл бұрын
Gunslinger454 in Canada the only way to carry a pistol is hunting. And to pass the requirements you have to put 10 rounds in a small target with a .40 cal or larger at 30 yards rapid fire😬
@DSM907Maniak7 жыл бұрын
I daily a .40 and the recoil is NOTHING compared to a .500. My bear gun is a Glock 20 though. 10mm will drop a bear with ease assuming half decent shot placement. Fuck carrying a 44mag or a 500. Capacity > lead
@connorbranscombe68197 жыл бұрын
DSM907Maniak yeah I feel like 20 9 mil rounds would be roughly as effective as 5 .500 rounds in the grand scheme of things.

I like stopping power. Bear protection is a self-defense pistol and if I ever have to use a firearm on another person I want him to at least have to get up off the ground after I've knocked him on his ass with one 160gr hollow point. Although, I'll admit I don't expect him to get up. Not to mention the fact that it's going to help your gun control and put down time by not having to fire multiple rounds. If your life, or another's, is on the line you want it over quick. In short, I don't want to shoot an angry grizzly coming at me with a 9mm. I call it "being smart."

I've been in at least three gun shops that each had a S&W .500 Mag on consignment, with the identical story for all: "Yeah, the guy bought the gun new, put five rounds through it, and immediately came back in and put it on consignment". I've always been pretty insensitive to recoil, with above-average grip strength, and five rounds through a borrowed .500 Mag was more than enough for me. I'm glad I had the opportunity, but I have no interest in doing it again. I've read that more than once, even relatively experienced shooters have fired this gun, and ended up flinching and losing control so badly that they involuntarily squeezed the trigger again, firing a wild round practically straight up, and sending the gun flying. Not really the day you want to be at the range....

That thing will grind your joints to dust....Quite useless thing really, if you want to use it for bear protection you need to train with it to be proficient = massive cash hemorrhage and permanent joint damage. Also if used on the field with no hearing protection you'll get major hearing loss with each shot. Fun fact about bear attacks: firearm defense only give 50% chance of zero damage encounter, while with pepper spray (includes pre bear spray stats) you have 95% chance to survive with no damage...

I don't think you can quantify bear attacks since each one is unique. And I believe whether you escape unharmed either way depends on when you draw.

All who have used pepper spray on bears have the same story: The bear stops almost instantly and runs away at maximum speed. At similar ranges firearms are near useless, also helping a friend that is being attacked with a firearm is extremely problematic unlike with bear spray.

ScopedPewPew And you're a very rude idiot. I never said bear spray wouldn't deter a bear, I said it's difficult to quantify bear attacks since each is unique. You may want to read what someone wrote before trying to respond.

ScopedPewPew Im pretty sure if you hit a 1000lb Grizzly in its pinky toe with a .500MAG it wouldn't want anymore. What I'm getting at is if you hit an animal anywhere with that thing, there is an incredible likelihood that thing is going down rather quick.

I have a .500 S&W. As a hunting tool, I doubt this is very useful. I don't think very many people have ever had successful hunts with this thing. But, it's a hoot to shoot(outdoors), especially at things that explode, like watermelons. It's really more of a novelty than a practical gun.

knowing how wicked Jerry is at shooting, the part the impressed me is during slo-mo you can see the pistol absolutely stop all motion while the cylinder turns. beast mode engaged.
