I do my very best to test and evaluate every potential concern of the people who chose to watch me and ask questions. Does the bodyguard 2.0 have issues with certain ammo?! @HonestOutlawReviews

Thank you for going out and testing this BG 2.0 with flatnose rounds. I would like to give my opinion on the Bodyguard 2.0 accordance to my logic, now I'm not a Mechanical engineer nor have these Bodyguard 2.0's yet arrived in my country (South Africa) meaning I have not seen one physically or shot one. Watching a few videos where users have broken down the BG 2.0, it became very apparent that the BG 2.0 has a very unique feed ramp system that literately gives it 2 feed ramps that links together, Feed ramp 1 is the feed ramp that makes part of the frame/receiver, feed ramp 2 makes part of the barrel. Now feed ramp 1 guides the round when it initially gets stripped out of the mag and guiding it onto ramp 2 that guides the round into the chamber. I was suspecting before people started getting problems with certain flatnose ammo, that it was probably going to be more "finicky" with certain JHP's and Flatnose rounds as certain JHP and Flatnose's geometries (being what they are) were going to hang up or "wedge" between where feed ramp 1 and 2 meets up. So in essence, the issue is not that it's a bad pistol or a bad design, but rather a design that has to make this specific compromise to be able to have such a low bore axis and flat shooting ability. As usual thank you for going the extra mile being of great service to the everyday firearms consumer.

I have had trouble shooting the Bodyguard 2.0 with Underwood Extreme Defender and some hollow points misfeeding. If you look closely at the part of the feed ramp that is attached to the frame, you will see a small ridge at the end of the ramp. Those bullets will sometimes catch on that ridge, causing a misfeed.

Exactly!! Do you know how to fix it? Like where to file it down a little or something? This guy apparently doesn't get that each gun can be millimeters different sometimes to cause it catching on some but not others. Need a fix!

Which guy are you referring too
@GSquaredTactical2 ай бұрын
Because if you are referring to me, I do not see how me simply stating a fact about my experience means that I have not the ability to understand that everyone’s experience is different. Not sure how you surmise that from me stating that mine has been flawless.
@anderss68182 ай бұрын
@@melmelbry5754 Yes, I do know how to fix it. Every one of these guns I have seen on KZbin where I could see clearly inside the breach has a small ridge at the top of the lower feed ramp. Someone at Smith and Wesson got the machining tolerances off a bit. Bullets with rounded ends will usually feed without a problem. Bullets with more blunt ends like Extreme Defenders and some hollow points like the Sierra ones I have will sometimes get stuck on that ridge. I fixed mine by grinding off that ridge and polishing both feed ramps using a Dremel. My Bodyguard 2.0 will now feed any kind of ammunition I load into it without any problems. The ridge is quite small. You have to look closely to see it, but it is enough to cause problems. If you shoot a few rounds of almost any kind of bullets though the gun, you will see copper accumulating on the ridge.
@John-ce1lk20 күн бұрын
Thanks for your time and testing flat nose. Good to read your comments from others with no issues using JHP also, other than Underwood having load fails. All I've shot is FMJ round nose, no issues. So, I'm researching defense ammo for my BG 2.0 for EDC. Read elsewhere about that ridge on top side of first load ramp causing load issues. Think that was with S&W's first production run. Mine doesn't have that ridge and looks like the barrel load ramp has been polished from factory. But they still need to do better QC on their front sight mounting, mine was visually way off to the right, POI to the left.

Great little "Pocket Rocket" pistol. I purchased one the other day and ran 100 rds of Fiocchi 95g FMJ and some Hornady JHP 90g thru it with no issues so far. I honestly am not a fan of 380 in general but there are certain situations where this little gun fits a need I have for deep carry/pocket carry. So I picked it up and was pleasantly surprised at how well this little gun shoots and the accuracy in short, close distance, which is what this is intended for. The only issues I have had are 1) very hard to insert the magazine fully loaded with the slide closed, have to smack the bottom of the mag pretty hard to get it to seat, 2) my front sight was not centered from the factory as many others have had but not an issue for me to correct pretty quickly, 3) when loading the 12 rd magazine, I could get the first 2 rds in and then it did not want to take any other even using a maglula so I did like others and hit the loader pretty hard and it trimmed off the edge of the follower that was catching on the mag catch slot as you are trying to push it down and load rounds, after that, no issues, 4) cannot release the locked back slide with the "Slide Lock/Slide Release" which some would argue you aren't suppose to do anyway, not a deal breaker, and 5) I have the Thumb Safety model as that was all that was available and it is was very difficult to manipulate, I lubed it and just cycled the safety several thousand times over a few days and it now works better. I normally do not use or like safeties but with a pocket carry and awaiting the Kydex pocket holster from Muddy River Tactical and using a "Sticky Holster" until I get it in, I like I can use the safety but once I get the Kydex, I will probably not worry about the safety.

Even though I had already shot 500+ rounds of cheap flat and HP ammo with no issues I still polished my feed ramps after talking to my best friend who's a gunsmith and a range manager . I just used a cloth fiber mini wheel on my dremel and some good metal polish and left them looking like mirrors. I never removed material, just polished. I could definitely feel a smoother feed when I released the slide. That's just my 2 cents bro! Peace!

The problem with mine was that there was a little bump going across the top of the frame feed ramp. Some of my cases were getting hung up on it. I've seen other people comment that theirs also had the little bump running across it. I just filed it down using a jeweler's file and then wrapped some 600 grit sandpaper around the file and sanded it nice and smooth. I then polished both of the feed ramps. Since I did that I have run around 300 rounds through with ZERO issues. It sure beats sending it back to S&W and having it tied up for weeks, or months! Thanks for the videos!

I have a plastic magloader that i bought on ebay, and what i did was i used it to push down and hold down on the last round placed in the magazine for several seconds at a time, several times over and over to help really break in the spring in the magazine because the magazines were extremely hard to push in to the gun with fully loaded......Like damn near Impossible! All that pressing and holding has been gradually been making the magazine go in and click like you would normally expect.....Which tells me it needs to be broken in......And will get better with break in time or forcefully compressing the spring like i did. I have the model with the safety and the safety is Hard to engage, but as i keep flexing the safety more and more it gets easier to engage......which tells me it needs to be broken in....... My LCP Max 75th anniversary didnt require this breaking in of the magazine, but these did in order to match the force needed to seat a fully loaded magazine on the LCP Max (75th). I wish the LCP didnt recoil so hard otherwise it would stand more of a chance versus this gun (But that metal trigger on it IS the shit, and this one blows imo.....but to each his own....). I hope this helps folks.

I purchased the BG2.0 about a month ago did a two day test because I had to go to different GS to find the ammo I was looking for. First day ball ammo, flat nose and hollow points (brand unknown had them in a plastic bag) Day two box of Critical Defense, box of Hydra-Shok, box of Gold dot hollow points. I can honestly say not one issue from the ammo, prior to shooting it I did have to push the rear sight over to the right and cleaned it. i think you have the only one on the planet that doesn't print to the left.
@GSquaredTactical3 ай бұрын
That’s wild. This is the first time I have heard of anyone having that problem with this gun much less it being widespread. That is interesting. I mean I’m sure you already knew this but if you are right handed it is pretty common for right hand to shoot low left or left in general especially with a smaller gun so I think what happens is a lot of times even if a gun is off, when people say that it is off low left naturally discredits that person‘s experience assuming that it is them that’s causing the low left situation so it never really gets any traction if that makes sense. However, neither I nor Wife has had any issues whatsoever shooting this pistol And hitting right where we are aiming. That has been one of the most surprising things to me about this pistol is just how accurate it has been. Thanks for watching and for taking time to comment and be sure to subscribe if you have not already.

@@GSquaredTactical i think i have watched every video on youtube of shooting the BG 2.0, yours is the only one i have found that didnt print left. i know its not the shooters fault because they always print left for both left and right handed shooters.

@yourmomma2995 I had no idea this is the first I’ve heard. I’ll try not to watch other peoples reviews on Guns that I am reviewing because I feel like it will cause me to be subconsciously biased and maybe regurgitate what they say because it’s popular to do so. So I have not really seen any negative comments about this gun, everything that I have experienced and everyone who have commented has had nothing but great things to say so. I’m not sure about that. Maybe rear site needs to be drifted a little bit.

I like the trigger. It's fine for me. Then again, I also carry double action, hammerless revolvers. I like triggers that work. I'm not a trigger snob

@@Joeak74 I'm not a trigger snob but if they are gonna make a new design, they can make the trigger better also. If you have the regular shield or 2.0 know need to upgrade.

I call bs you absolutely can change your grip. You should not be causing malfunctions gripping

I can totally disagree with that. That is one tiny pistol that my XXL sized hands would totally cover up. I can’t get the LCP max to slide lock cuz my gorilla mitts are too big for it. That’s why it’s my wife’s purse gun. I still had to QC it for her to make sure it’s to my standard for carry. She doesn’t have the problem I do with little guns. Personally I EDC the G30S. I still haven’t found anything that can remove that from my waistband and I own a bunch of guns. We all have our favorites. Tiny guns aren’t for me due to my size. For whatever reason the G30S just hit the sweet spot for my size and can still pocket carry or IWB it.
@GSquaredTactical3 ай бұрын
Yeah, for me, my grip does not cause any malfunctions with the gun other than of course, riding the slide lock, but as I have mentioned before, it’s really not that big of a deal for me because I have a 12 round mag with one in the pipe for a total of 13 so I don’t think in a real life scenario the slide not locking back is going to be a big issue for me But I also know that amount of adjusting my grip has allowed it to lock back. I mean, I basically would have to let the thing go and I’m not going to conform to a pistol that pistol is going to conform to me and if it doesn’t, then I will either choose to get over it, or I will just get rid of it. In the case of the bodyguard, I have just chosen to get over it. Thanks for watching Daniel and don’t let the trolls get you riled up lol
@DanielJohnson-ot8wj3 ай бұрын
@@GSquaredTactical hehe! Not really riled up. People forget hand size matters especially in mouse guns. Hell even the great Honest Outlaw has the same problem all the time. People like talking crap thinking they are so wise lol. They don’t think about the full picture. Chris had the same problem you do and his wife didn’t just like yours. Hand size matters and there is no getting around that. You just make it work for you or pass it to her😉

@DanielJohnson-ot8wj that’s right my wife loves it but I haven’t given it up yet but she would probably still carry her p365 in .380

Well I bought one and mine has a new problem it will not run any ammo other than sig 100 grain flat nose ammo and i have about 10 types of ammo and 2 other brands also have flat nose and it does not feed almost every time and i have had nothing but trouble with SW guns over the last 2 years and im a Smith lover I have bought 4 other revolvers and they all have had some sort of issues it pains me to keep getting guns that are not working and they just dont seem to care any more so im done with there crap they will not get any more of my money this is the perfect size 380 and they just cant get anything right any more why should people have to keep sending there guns back for service it should work from the factory if you get a good one your lucky anymore and that is not what should happen bad on them they have lost a lifetime customer in me

You know honestly, I feel your pain, bro because I have had some sketchy stuff from S&W too. I would not say that I am a S&W lover by no stretch of the imagination, but certainly was not a hater, but I have had mixed reviews with their products over the last couple of years as well. I really loved and still do love the FPC, the 2.0 10 mm’s, and this bodyguard has been fantastic. However, the shield models and the M&P 2.0 carrycomp have been problematic for me to say the least. Thanks for watching and for commenting and be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
