I had mine since 2015 and have had zero issues with it. Put a set of Hogur grips on it and painted the front sight white. Makes an excellent appendix carry gun in my 1791 holster.

M&P .38 Bodyguard + Hogue Grip + Front Night Sight = Awesome Snub Revolver

I am recommending the S&W Bodyguard revolver to my GF for personal defense consideration. Why? Revolvers are much less complicated than semi automatics 'slides' for a women with arthritis or man with petite/senior citizen hands. Also, in a heightened state of fear with the adrenaline rush you have only two choices: Laser Button or Trigger Pull. The 'red dot laser' on an attacker's chest may thwart any further advance and I believe if said attacker, then advances further, any man or woman will feel much more confident knowing where the bullet is going and that a 'clear' message has been offered to the assailant prior which reduces 'decision anxiety'. It's light, simple, small, and with +P ammo going do the job most likely with one or two shots placed in kill zones and the laser confirms placement. Yes, you need target practice but learning to shoot with both hands on the gun ' gun range style' only is NOT sufficient! One could be carrying a purse, child, cell phone in one hand and need to be able to shoot from the hip with confidence. Depending on the cover one has or angle of attack one should ALSO be able to fire with either hand without sighting first. The laser is an extra layer of defense and CONFIDENCE that is worth every penny. It's not the weapon for going to the 'O.K. Corral shootout' or to a bank robbery standoff to back up the law officers on the scene. This is like carrying a cell phone; pulled only when you plan to use it for protection of self or loved ones. Your just not going to shoot an assailant 100-150 times over.

My BG38 has been a good firearm, I did install a Hogue grip , but removed it because it was printing . Thank you for the upload.

I've owned mine since they came out in 2010. it took me forever to get comfortable w/ it. there's a wierd stack up just before it fires. it is a great summer carry gun though. it's light and handles +p just fine. I just ordered a Hoge grip and xs medium night sight for it. as for holsters, they are a lot of cheep kidex ones on ebay. I carry in the appendix w/ a leather Tagua holster. it's awesome. I switched from kidex because it kept digging into my side/stomach and it started scratching the finish on the gun. Leather is all around better. the same leather holster also fits my sp101

First handguns that I ever shot were Colt and S&W revolvers, but I've never owned one despite how much fun I had shooting them. I've been thinking of buying one lately just to add some variety to my rangetime, but after seeing how yours has very little recoil and quick follow up shots, it would make a good backup/ jacket gun for self defense as well. Nice find!

The remora holsters have a tendency to draw out with the gun making them a dubious choice. I had to put grip tape on mine to make sure that this does not happen.

I don't own this but rented it at my local range and got to tell u the 158 round nose rounds r like putting your hands on the edge of the table and pushing on it with all your weight I could handle it but not recommend it to new shooters.

Nice looking J-Revolver & I’m not fan of visible lasers firearms like this on firearms mainly for legal reasons. It could use more usable sights. I can see it as a summertime ccw or a BUG carry piece though.

See if n8 squared has one. I have one for my glock and God damn is it comfortable. I will say, though, that I typically carry my lcr .38 with a remora holster. It fits in any pocket, the car door basket, the glove-box, and any spot on your beltline (my typical choice) that you wish at any angle... I honestly forget the gun is there until I accidentally lay on it. I really like how that one holster can be moved around however you need at any time. It's not kydex, but at $24 with a sweat shield, you literally cannot go wrong. Just something to try for your snubby!

As a former LEO, sights are a bad handicap habit for training with a sub noise revolver. It's a 25ft or less close encounter gun. Hip and chest shots should be the majority of your training with a snubby. Lasers? Total waste of training. What law enforcement agencies trains LEOs with lasers? NONE. Lasers are a bad habit to integrate into your training. Draw and shoot. Not draw turn on a lazer or line up a sight picture then shoot. I have carried a 38 snubby for 31yrs and yes the S&W M&P 38spl is my current EDC. I survived 2 shootings due to making 80% of my training hip and chest level shots.

A snub nose is not just a 25ft gun. Train to use the sights. Training with sights enhances point shooting muscle memory as a bonus.
@montgomerytom2088

@@armeddefender like I said hip and chest level should be a majority of your training with a sub noise revolver. I didn't rule out long range sight shots. I rarely see people encouraging hip and chest level shot training. This is why we have a high rate of innocent bystander shootings. In the moment of panic people never train not using sights.

Yeah...in my meager opinion this gun has one simple purpose.,.a lightweight self defense piece for under 21 feet distance. There's no reason to waste time or ammo practicing anything else with it than close up draw shots. If you want to kill squirrels get a .22 rifle.

Blame your malfunction on the ammo, that cheap ass magtech sucks. Myself and other folks really need to shoot as they would in a panic situation, no one has the time to get the perfect grip in a jam. ijs
