Great video! I would've liked to have seen more of the .45 C.Q.B. I also own a 5903SSV and was curios where you saw the information about a second run. I have always been under the impression that the first batch of 1500 was all that was ever made.

My 4th edition standard catalog under the 5903 SSV states “Special production of 1,500. March 1990. 1500 made in 1990, and 3200 made in 1991.” They only list one product code 104100, for 1990. It does seem a little strange the way the wrote the entry. I took it at face value to indicate there were two runs but have no way to confirm. I suppose it is possible they made an error and the 3,200 they are referring to are actually the 3,277 5943 SSV’s made in 1991. Another 3rd gen mystery…

Did S&W every specifically specify what the V stands for? I always thought it was variant, but version, variation and maybe other words work... Highly semantic but curious. Also interesting that the 4596 doesn't have an SSV stamp. Agreed that it seems like a PC.

If you search around, you can find the ad put out by S&W and they call it the “Short Slide Variation”.
