When I tried to go up there in June 2018. They had to helicopter 2 riders from crashing on ice and snow. I ran into a guy on the ferry that got stranded up there for 2 days due to weather. Met two other riders on KTM dirt bikes in Dawson who said they had to turn around due to weather and road conditions.

Wow that's a lot of bad outcomes all at once! Do you think it was still a bit early in the season or a 💩-storm of bad luck?

Very beautiful trip with moxie and your husband. At the next summer, they will made the same trip with our german sheperd Coulson. They carry him on special trailer made for him. Thanks for showing the road, and tell the place for made camping on the Dempster. Enjoy your trip 🐶

Burr!!!! #GORuffly I am so glad you have Moxie to snuggle with she will will at least keep her Momma warmer. Moxie ever wear Dog Booties I wonder if Kevlar or some other Motorcycle ADV Paws protection from road rash is available? I don't want to see a high speed interstate layover but almost all of the small drops and one fishtail drop and her paws were fine... Attention Fan's, there was no K9 Cockpit until you discussed it with each other Gregg seems to be very outside the box ideas. Not worried about slow speed falls. But one paw almost always touches the ground whenever you drop that 5000lb bike on it's side. Just a thought 🤔 yes you and Moxie Personal Time bonding with you. Love living a dream a long time ago when I had my Australian Cattle Dog who was my Service Dog.

We have never put the booties on Moxie but it's a good idea if you're finding that a paw touches in drops or crashes. We'd love to hear your feedback with it! We have found that in just a few of the crashes, Moxie's paw comes out and actually might touch the ground - but by that time the motorcycle is barely moving and it's just a briefest touch. Making sure the straps to the harness are nice and tight is really key there and make a big difference. Oh, yeah, and Greg appreciates the "outside the box ideas"!

@GoRuffly I loved to have wondered what Moxie was thinking when she saw you all packing up to leave. LOL Moxie needs to speak up more Dad or whatever edits LOL She's a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rated cool lucky Dawg making history with Momma and Daddy...

That sure is the big question - what is Moxie thinking? We've played around with narrating from her perspective but it's really hard to pull it. I have huge respect for movies like a A Dog's Purpose that manage it so well!
The cameras on the bike are GoPro Hero 9s. The footage off the bikes are from our iPhone 12s.

I hope this doesn't come off as some sort of patronizing, Internet expert but here goes: The time to do the Dempster is late August, early September. The cold kills off the mosquitoes and the colours of the hills, etc are spectacular. Plus the tourists have mostly gone home, leaving travellers. As to wild life, there was lots until the road was put in...they have all moved away from the road making the locals have to travel further into the wild for food. Shame really, all for oil and gas exploration. Trade traditional ways for easier medical access and a bit cheaper groceries. Last, how come very few of you vloggers mention the elephant? Do you miss it or are you keeping it a secret? Elephant Rock...it is how I filter those who actually did the Dempster as opposed to those who just drove up and back. I'll buy a beer for both types, share campfire stories but the filter is there.

It sounds like you're saying that the only way to 'do' the Dempster Highway is to pull over at a viewpoint and snap a photo of a rock that happens to look a bit like an elephant. Not, for example, riding on two wheels exposed to the elements, not wild camping every night, not drinking from a glacier stream or picking cloudberries? That can't be what you mean, right? Is it possible that your filter is more like a blinder in this case?
