I wish I could experience WC3 the same way I did so many years ago. The nostalgia actually makes me sad at some moments. I can't think of a single game that has left memories as much as this game did.

if we're all honest, WC3 wins over SC2 by any means. it is just the most perfect strategy game (after chess)
@ImperialGuardsman7410 жыл бұрын
Chess is an imbalanced strategy game and black hasn't been buffed in millenniums, daed gaem.(white has a massive advantage in chess represented by a consistent 6-10% higher winrate since it was first recorded in mid 19th century)
@KuntaKinteToby10 жыл бұрын
ImperialGuardsman74 WC3 was and is heavily imbalanced, that's what makes a truly good strategy game - a set of rules which have exploits and vulnerabilities which cause the players to have to use skill to work around. In SC2 the balance is so finely tuned that there is no margin for error, flair, or creativity, there is simply 'do it or lose'. In WC3 crazy builds could work on the back of skilled unit control, and that's what made it so awesome. Same as in chess, yes Black is statistically at a disadvantage but grand masters have frequently employed unique strategies which fly in the face of standard play and surprise the white player.
@ImperialGuardsman7410 жыл бұрын
BarakaObama2012 Thing is SC 2 isn't balanced, it's one of the biggest complaints of the community.
@ex0duzz10 жыл бұрын
ImperialGuardsman74 That's why in chess you take turns being white/black(ie in a match). It's comparable to SC2. Different maps favor different races, and that's why you have vetoes in order to try and counter this advantage/disadvantage.
@ImperialGuardsman7410 жыл бұрын
***** It's not the maps that are unbalanced.

Thanks for uploading! I am always excited to see whether you uploaded a new Warcraft III commentary when i log in. Always interesting what you pros were thinking while playing these games. I really enjoy watching these videos and regulary try to copy strategies while playing against friends...(well I usually lose, since I am not good enough to play them efficiently, but it is fun nonetheless ;-)) So thanks for this commentary series Grubby, I hope there will be a lot more epsiodes that follow in the future. Big Thanks to ToD as well! Really enjoyed you two doing this Co-commentary!

Grubby, your casts are the best because they're fun to watch, super informative and interesting to hear your perspective of it and the pro tips. I also watch a lot of CrotaGaming WC3 casts, but yours are still my favourite ones. I love the game, and still play it from time to time with my friends on LANs and such. Thanks for the casts, Grubby. How we have a lot more in store. :-)
@ex0duzz10 жыл бұрын
You're comparing Crota's casts to Grubby's? lmao. Crota is just 'play by play'(and he's even 'bad' at that.. IE in terms of focusing on the right screen/area) and 'color commentary', which is probably what he's best at(IE making it sound more exciting than it is by raising his voice and changing the tone/pitch/speed etc when a unit/hero gets surrounded/focused/saved/killed etc etc), he also never looks at tech/food/base or anything), while grubby is one of the most informative/insightful and in-depth casters around, basically the complete opposite of Crota. I apologize for talking about Crota so much on a Grubby video, but it had to be said. Hopefully he reads this and takes it into account in the future.
@HatsonFGC10 жыл бұрын
***** I did not mean to say Crota was comparable to Grubby, but I still watch them both. I know Grubby is way more informative, as he is a pro player at the game himself. But Crota is still fun to watch, imo. That is why I watch both. Even though I enjoy Grubby's more.
@Scroll5555510 жыл бұрын
***** I do watch Crota as well, however, he has become annoyingly negligent lately. His latest casts are full with mistakes, he confuses the units and the players a lot, keeps using phrases which are not fit into the particular situations, makes nonsense statements like "mountain king is very low on hit points" meanwhile it had 600/850, "death knight takes a lot of damage" meanwhile it was fighting with only a militia and so forth. Maybe he lost his interest a little bit.

Awesome, thanks for doing this Yoan(and Manuel ofc). You should also perhaps put ToDs name in the video title at least. :P And can someone tell ToD that it's pronounced Griff-ins, not Grie-Fons. ALso, i agree with the other comments saying that you guys should cast two games between each other(and have 1 game win/lose) and not just the 2v2. I hope you guys can do more than just one 2v2 since you guys did play WC3L together as a 2v2 team, so you should have a decent number of candidate games to choose from.

loved all his replays so far, but not so sure about this one. Its fun to hear tod talk about wc3 again, but honestly the whole message of this replay was, dont let your archmage die to a mountainking, which is kinda cheap, if you dont say, what you planned, to prevent him from killing your am. (btw am should have died, when mk was in range for bolt at minute 10) I just love grubbys overall talk, which techniques you can use (like the exp tome) to avoid hero snipes, or why you can creep this camp at this particular situation, but i felt kinda all of that was missing in this one : (

Sky is the kind of player that if things go along as he planned his opponent will get suppressed terribly. But whenever his rhythm is broken, he can hardly recover and gain the upper hand like grubby. He may not be the most talented player in war3history but he definitely is the one who achieved most and practiced hardest in his prime. Tod's micro isn't great in small fight but somehow whenever there is a 80vs80 army fight he never lost...

Hi Grubby, nice co-cast, could you do more? If Yoan is not available, maybe you could get someone else, my fellow Croatian ZeuS maybe? I would love to hear him. You should also play more often and post it even. W3 scene is not so dead, there are couple of fanatics left like WtiiWarcraft(way outside of box, very fun strats) there is also Crota, maybe not so proffesional but very fluent(good games still, you could cast them) there has even been a podcast called Warcast by Filmting to revamp the W3, check it out if you want(since we are not gonna see 4 for a long time... even patches for 3 would be God given, could you pull some strings?) there are other people as well... P.S. You should cast games where you lost (because losses are essential in building your game and you ARE gonna lose sooner or later, it's natural) i feel like you're leaving out a big part of your history, even if it is uncomfortable. Maybe co-cast with someone who beat you, gain insights to what they were thinking at the time, i don't think it's a bad idea.. Keep up the good work!

Hello urgbby.. I would like to do a little interview with you. What would you do if Cassandra would chop off both of your Hands with a german broadsword ? If you look at your overall SC2 stats, how much do you want WC4 ? On a scale from 7 to 13 how long is your ramalamadingdong ? How hard did you laugh when you heard that ensnare is nerfd ? (ofc after you switched to sc2) Why the hell is your body so tiny compared to your head ? Now or a more or less serious question.. How would your own game look like ..?

Tod had been playing WC3 for like EVER and didn't win anything. The most remembering thing about Tod in my mind is that he had been whining about LS all the time. The entire Human race was considered useless, no Human won any major event (RoC doesn't count). Until Sky came out and showed the world how one should play Human, and he did it so well that Blizzard had to release a few patches to reduce Hum's power. And even today Humans win most of the major tourneys using Sky's style. This one game Sky just didn't play his best, but he did win this bo3 and he had beaten Tod's ass for many times with beautiful, non-standard strategies. And Sky did that to Grubby too :)

@voidsmith10 жыл бұрын
Never won anything? Pls try to get info before writing bullshit. ToD has more achievements than sky (and retired from wc3 earlier), just check wikipedia. He won the WEG masters, he won the WC3L couple of times, which are major events. HE is the player who reinvented human strategy, not sky. You clearly don't know what you are talking about.
@ex0duzz10 жыл бұрын
voidsmith ToD re-defined Hu as a race more than ToD? Sorry, but you're talking shit now. What was the strategies that ToD is known for? We have the Sky Push, and Panda second in HU mirror, and others. What does Tod have? Name 1-2. And make sure they are INDISPUTABLE, like the two i just listed. And Sky is pretty much Grubby and Tods arch nemesis.. and that's only because he WON nearly all of the time when they played. Especially against ToD, since Sky was just a micro beast and outmicro'd Tod every time.. but not just out micro, but also out stategized, although i will admit that mass heavy air(griffs) was pretty imba.. but hey, orc was imba vs UD so it balances out. Grubby was 'out strategized' for the longest time, or rather you could say it was all/mostly imba, but grubby also thought moon's 'tri hero + dotts' was imba too and likened it to "shooting ducks in a barrel" until he figured it out later on..(ie more raiders and less/no grunts, along with HH even), and like mass dotts, he also learned to counter the sky push with good burrow placement/sim city(so you can micro the catapults in your base, along with having access to the shop and not getting the shop/unit sniped easily), along with an early watch tower or two(or even building a war mill at all) in order to counter the 'sky push'.. Tod on the other hand never learned to counter it, because it's HU mirror and theres no imba or weather conditions(like lack of air con..) to complain about(sad day for you tod lol), there's only microing better, having better positioning for engagements and having better scouting in order to have better unit compositions and better timings.
