S08 Delena mentions and their endgame [Logoless HD]

By the end of Season 6, actress Nina Dobrev left the series and her character Elena got in a magical coma (Kai linked her life to Bonnie's so she would only wake up when her friend died). However, she was mentioned a lot in Seasons 7 and 8 and played a important part in Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) storyline, keeping Delena alive despite her absence. By the end of the last season, the actress came back, Elena woke up and Delena got their endgame; they got married and lived a happy and long human life together.

The Miss Mystic Falls dance with Sybil is my favorite. They've been writing for this since 1x3 & 1x6. That's why Stefan pulls out the necklace to begin with. "I wanted to protect you from Damon's influence. But I also wanted to protect you from me." It's for the moment when he really needs to protect Elena. When Sybil is trying to destroy her, and Stefan's switch is flipped, so he's trying to destroy her too. They can't destroy Elena without destroying Damon.

The greatest love story ever told until the final episode. Shame Nina returned for just one episode & with fleeting affection. Should have been a triumphant return. Filled with the same love & passion from earlier seasons. 2+ years sleeping, with Damon literally going through hell for the love of his life & this was its conclusion. Disappointing. Damon wouldn't have been able to keep his hands off her or his lips. A 2 second peck, hug & hand hold? Was he reviving a friend or his one true love?

@@jeelee3096 See I'm not too sure. His interactions with Katherine hit the mark. I just think the writers/director treated Damon & Elena's reunion as an afterthought. Which was weird as their relationship was the driving force for the whole series. Even 7 & 8 Damon's motivation was Elena. How do you go from Season 6 finale to one quick scene & then they separate again in death. Nina should have been brought back for more than one episode. I think that's the biggest issue.

​@@jeelee3096I thought so too, but rewatching it now I realised that when Damon sees Katherine and thinks she's Elena, there's a lot of chemistry there. So acting couldn't be the problem. Perhaps it was the writing/directing of the last few scenes that ruined it. The shots were fast like the writers just want it to be over with other than to be meaningful.

I don’t necessarily feel like Caroline needed to lose Stephen for Delena’s endgame. I feel like a lot of S8 is about atonement, and Stephen flipping his switch/becoming human again made him confront everything he’s ever done. Making that sacrifice was the ultimate atonement for everything, including turning Damon into a vampire in their youth. He was able to give Damon back his life and also be at peace with himself. It’s awful for Caroline, but even she understood when his decision came. She knew, in a way, their time was limited because she had no desire to become human again and Stephen was now mortal.

Caroline losing Stefan had nothing to do with Delena, and everything to do with Benzo. This is exactly what Bonnie and Enzo wanted. She's not giving up Damon after she already lost Enzo, and Enzo considered Damon a brother. Because that's what Bonnie wanted, she transferred the sleep spell onto Stefan. This allowed him to say goodbye to Elena after he died, then allowed her to wake before his funeral. Bonnie and Alaric BOTH knew they were gonna save Damon. That's why they forced Caroline into the car. Bonnie took her selfish moment to save her best friend. Complete with a nice repeat of history with The Cell. Pain is the cost of living for Damon... the one who flipped his switch that allowed him to leave Enzo to burn.

What does last scene mean; y is Damon disappeared and how is Stefan back to Salvatore house and everyone are back to life? Does this mean Damon died after Stefan? In one of the interviews talking about legacies Ian Somerhalder said that Damon died that's how he met Stefan and I'm confused what does this all mean or I'm just dumb to understand?!

That means that after spending a happy and peaceful life together damon and elena stepped into the afterlife.. But they are still young because their loved ones used to see them as young.. And then they found peace and reunited with their respective families.. Damon didn't disappear from Elena's side.. He just get a chance to reunite with his brother again, he thought that he would never get peace.. Because he had done several horrible things in his young age, but in the end it proved that he was worried for literally no reason he is a good person and capable of getting peace.. Hope it will help you to understand better

It’s symbolic. Elena says something like, “after a long and happy life together...” So it’s assumed they lived into old age, and Elena is seeing them both as young again in her final moments… similar to Titanic, when Rose and Jack kiss on the staircase in her final moments before death. In this case, Elena and Damon are walking into the afterlife to be with their loved ones again, which in Elena’s case, included her parents, aunt, and even her biological father (or uncle?). Damon was concerned his soul wasn’t worthy enough, but we see he found peace too by finally seeing his brother again. The same way we knew Stephen found peace by seeing Lexi for first time since the other side collapsed in S5.
