Modern Warfare: What’s Up With Special Ops?

Lot of people misunderstanding lol. To be crystal clear: *there is 1 mission, and 4 operations.* Since I talked about the "classic mission" first, being the only one at launch, a shocking number of people think I'm a total moron for missing the Verdansk operations, even though the majority of this video is me talking those 4. The classic missions is where they promised us best times & 3 stars, etc., but all of that is missing. It seems like that content is more likely to appear in the multiplayer "Trials" feature that they briefly added on Tuesday, then removed because of an XP bug, and of course they'll be adding missions over time. That doesn't excuse the complete lack of promised content at launch with no explanation. Also ya'll really think we all didn't try jumping into the helicopter? I showed us jumping in the video, we jumped for minutes!

What promised content are you missing? You claim there is a safegaurd bug but you haven't SAID what the bug is unless it's you bitching about how you couldnt get on the chopper. I mean Jesus Christ are we meant to guess? I 99% sure it's probably player error. I think you're missing the point again they removed the trials/3 stars to fix the XP bug which makes complete sense as we don't want players wasting XP and time. You have to be level 55 to gain access to the trials. You keep referring to this throughout the video again you've misunderstood. You have 4 Human players in Spec Ops the key to win is TEAMWORK and communication, the rewards are coming in November if you paid attention to the menu. It will be hard as you have 4 human players and the rewards will be very rewarding. I've completed this 4 times now, it's not broken. I agree with you that the enemy spawns in spec ops are too crazy, they should spawn in one direction, the juggs aim for the head, the FAL is crap and yes spec ops does need some TLC. The TTK is a little too fast, stealth is key to. As you know the game has just launched so bugs unfortunately happen though :( The rewards are coming in November.

It's fine if we disagree on liking/disliking the Operations. About Trials, I'm sorry but you are flat out wrong. I don't know where you get the confidence to call me misinformed. Trials DID NOT EXIST at the time of making this video, even for people that were above level 55. I am 100% certain of this. They added it days later on Tuesday, it was visible to all players (even people below 55, it was just locked without having a ticket), and they removed it very immediately after because of the xp bug. What promised content am I missing? They promised a variety of of replayable "classic missions" (not the operations) that you could get 3 stars on and go for better times, and that literally did not exist anywhere at the time of making this video. Something like that may come in form of Trials for whatever reason instead of being in the classic mission category, but that is what I was promised and was lacking. I also felt like we were promised rewarding cross-progression, as they really talked up that feature about the xp & progress sharing, but that fell flat due to it only being shared XP, and the rates are garbage. Nothing like unique challenges or camo progress. Feels low effort. And tons of people reported having the helicopter issue. We were all jumping. We could not get in. It should not be that finicky. I am not complaining because "it was hard". I'm giving my opinion that I don't think this is fun, and many of the features I was expecting were missing as listed above. Why do you feel like you have to defend them on every front? As I said, fine if we disagree about liking the operations, but you say "the November rewards will be rewarding" as if you know what they'll be?

You cant choose difficulty and it seems like they took the MP time to kill and time to die in a mode that it seems like forced coop, i remember in MW3 getting at least to round 30 or so in every map solo, in this MW you get to round 7 in solo and its almost fucking impossible. Also instant explosion from dead suicide bombers instead of it having a timer like mw3 is stupid. The whole spec ops mode seems extremely rushed.

Nate_The_ Gun_Nut They revealed that during the multiplayer premiere. No season pass, all DLC will be free. Also no supply drops/loot boxes. They’re adopting the Fortnite system essentially, with a Battle Pass to come. They want to keep the game thriving and don’t want to split up the player base with DLC packs that not everyone has. This way everyone will always be able to play together, across all platforms. Probably the best thing to happen to CoD in a decade or more :)

Ever. and no matter where you go in the playable area they just appear from thin air around you. My party went past the stadium out towards the edge of the play area where that random barracks area is and cleared it thinking we would be safe so we pushed back towards the objective and then more enemies appeared from the barracks and shot us in the back. .

Its like the spawns overrall in the entire game are terrible, let me set an exaple like survival, in MW3 they always spawned far away from you and you could see on the map, youd always know where the juggernaut will spawn specifically pecause it would come on a chopper, this MW he just appears behind you out of the fucking nowhere like goddamn magic, enemies spawn way too close to you so you cant built some sort of strategy and the spawn die spaw, instead of all of them appearing together at the same time. What we all thought spec ops was gonna be: The mission "Clean house" but with friends. What we got: Running around without any goal trying to survive. For real though, even the co-op operations that they have suck. Like how did they think this was a good idea? They need to give us what MW2 and MW3 had. Those spec ops missions were dope, I cant even classify what they gave us now as missions. They are just straight clusterfucks of madness. The only good thing about co-op was the "classic" survival type mode, but even that is disappointing because the damn reward isnt even in the game yet.

I was super into the story but left the spec ops aside for later. I came to level 22 and was like yeah lets do this now. Got my ass kicked in headhunter. But i realized i had like 50 kills and got MASSIVE amoubt of xp. And thats where it went downhill. Its a PURE xp grind. Only that. We allways get to the tank section of heashunter and then die because it is IMPOSSIBLE to defend a unmovable gunship pilot whilest tanks with high splash damage explosive rounds shoot at you and you get surrounded the whole time from enemys which have godlike accuracy. You need to REALLY pull some high class CIA tactics out and koordinate a whole squad perfectly to get passed that not to mention the part past that with the almost unkillable jug and smokes.

Spec ops is definitely WAY too hard. In the game there’s an achievement called “Liberation” which you get when you complete all special ops missions... not one person has done it.. it says “0.00% of all gamers completes this” it’s just very weird

The dam spec ops missions are extremely difficult if you don’t have a team that can communicate. When you get teammates that decided to just go full on Rambo to only die in a few secs from enemy’s that can hit you from a mile away with no issues is crazy. Then having a juggernaut that takes like 4 reloads of a light machinegun to take down is crazy. To then take on 3-4 at a time is insane. And then no checkpoints it’s wild. You will find yourself playing an operation for an 1hr long to then have a team killed and then restart all over again. There should be checkpoints after each objective is completed. And then sometimes the crates can’t be used or dropped down. And enemy’s will spawn right in front of you sometimes and then when you shoot a rocket at a heli which does nothing. It’s better and faster to shoot it down with a LMG then 5-7 rockets that don’t do anything smh. . It’s crazy. It’s fun but frustrating at times.

Ammo is poorly handled. Literally had to die then spawn in on the stadium to brainstorm with teamates about our next move because there's literally 360° of fire coming at you. It just seems like open world chaos. Objectives are buggy. Sometimes we complete one and have to wait about 5 minutes before the game registers and directs us to the new objective. I'm not giving up on the mode & believe they'll fix it but it's a little disappointing not being able to enjoy it during launch week

Spec ops, like ground war, seems like it was slapped onto the title in the last few weeks of the development cycle as a marketing gimmick and an excuse to justify the unsatisfying ending of the Campaign. It's a bit like how ground war is a clearly-uninspired replica of Battlefield used to bait BF players into buying a CoD game; despite the fact that the mode is actually kind of fun, it clearly is half-baked, and the maps look aesthetically unpleasing. They resemble the blackout maps in BO4--haphazardly assembled with low-poly assets and barren environments. I don't think it's a coincidence that blackout was also made at the last minute in the development cycle of that game, and the maps appear pretty similar in quality. Plus, there are only two maps designed for ground war from the ground-up: Quarry and that city map, and of the two, Quarry is clearly the most visually pleasing. The city looks hideous from every angle and nothing seems to mesh well in it. The focus was clearly on the campaign and normal MP modes (although I question how much thought really went into MP, since the map and weapon design is horrendous.)

This isn't difficult because of the advanced AI or the different tactics used by enemies or challenging objective/level design. It's difficult because it's a nonstop spawn of 100's of enemies, helicopters, juggernauts, snipers, RPGs...the list goes on. It's made difficult the cheap way by waterboarding players with constant and inescapable enemy fire and absurd/obscure objectives. It never feels like you're making progress, only barely surviving. They need to make a rework to it and add more missions.

I absolutely agree with you! Mission: I have beaten it once, and it was very difficult, and you know what we got? Nothing, it says rewards unlock in November, uhm excuse me wtf? It sucks that there is just 1 mission, no star rating, no mission description, no hud feedback. It just feels really bad. Operations: It feels kinda bland, but also extremely hard. I haven't been able to complete an operation. Enemies come from every direction, they just spawn, no drop off, no building to clear to stop spawning them. It just feels super unfair. Survival: Well this mode was actually fun when I did it with randoms, I only hate that juggernauts just spawn, instead of being flown in. What also sucks is that it is ps4 exclusive. I partied up with my 2 ps4 friends and my pc brother, and we couldn't play cause my brother has a pc... This stupid exclusivity hurts ps4 players as well, its so stupid... In conclusion spec ops is broken and unfinished. You can even see that in the trophies (achievements) There is a separate trophy pack for spec ops with just 1 singular trophy, 1! And it's just complete all operations. What happened to this mode? Really hope the post launch fixes spec ops.

If Im correct, Operations are like "keep it simple stupid" missions for 4 players/friends. While Spec Ops missions "should be" more in-depth missions with a 2-4 player count. I have no idea if Im right though.

Jonathan Simmons multiplayer is a preference really it's shit to a lot of people but it can grow on you. It's really hit or miss with it I've seen sides where people praise the multiplayer and sides where they completely trash it. Definitely a preference thing tho.

I have had a bug in survival where if all your teammates leave the game all the sudden becomes a xp grind machine and literally just normal bots no juggernauts nor attack helicopters or suicide bombers, just plan old enemies that try to kill you but they dont become anymore harder to kill or they hit you harder then before. Btw its kindof boring because its literally the same wave of enemies every round and also you cant buy new weapons and grenades or score streaks. You mainly to get a new weapon you have to kill a enemy for it.

You summed it up pretty well. I went on and played the stadium mission with a bunch of randoms and holy shit. First thing the maps are HUGE, like you said my first impression was a BR map reused for a co-op. After that there is a hoard of unlimited enemies. Which works fine in a zombie game, but when they can shoot at you from a distance not so much. There's nowhere to fall back, and the juggernauts take like 8 mags to kill. By that time you're out of ammo and getting shot across the map from veteran level AI. The whole thing is rough. I also had a glitch where I picked up a juggernaut suit from one of the crates and used it. It wouldn't let me exit the streak, I ran around for like 5 minutes in the suit. After a while I held down square I think and it tossed the minigun away but left the suit on and I couldn't use any other streaks or armor/ammo packs I had stored. I eventually died and respawned STILL in the suit so I just quit.

well I finally managed to beat the missions all 4 spec op operations and what did I get for all the hard work? one bronze trophy! wow but I enjoyed the challenge of it. at one point I was coming under fire from the halo attack helicopter, juggernaut was closing in on my position and endless amount of enemies were respawning. then at the same time 12 enemies with heavy machine guns were also firing at me. killed everything and they just respawn! however we eventually did all the missions and more pleasing they were all randoms I played with so guess I got lucky:))

I am so disappointed by Spec Ops. I’m glad someone finally did a video on this... one mission is just BS. The operations are bugged AF and, as you rightly pointed out, it’s just crazy the way the enemies spawn endlessly from all directions. So far I have managed to complete only one of them and from what I can remember I got nothing for doing it! The worst thing by far in operations is that none of your munitions work after respawning... wtf?! There are so many other ridiculous bugs but this one is a real deal breaker and my mates and I stopped bothering with the mode completely until they patch it. Even worse, Infinity Ward / Activision have said absolutely nothing about the state that this mode has been released in and what the plans with it are. Very poor form indeed ☹️

I agree with your assessment of Coop. It seems like a confused free-for-all. The only mission I have tried (I want to to beat it first before moving on) is Paladin, which is very difficult to complete. Its difficulty is mostly due to an annoying bug that prevents you from using munitions, and gameplay nuances like shooting mines, killing RPGs before they blow up the convoy, etc. Its fun to grind through it at times, but after your munitions don't work for the 5th time after dying it becomes a bit ridiculous.

I agree completely with what u said. I understand it needs to be somewhat difficult to do the 4 operations to unlock the operators, but it's honestly just a headache.I only intend to beat them to get the operators and I'll probably never touch them again. The enemy spawns are crazy and with them dealing so much damage while u deal so little is a problem. Mainly bc u get objective out in the open and they continually spawn in all directions so ur ammo is completely burned up. And idk if anybody else has had this problem but if u do die and have to air drop back in it makes it to where u cant place any of your streaks including ammo boxes. I feel like it could be really cool and really fun they just need to change a few things

I still remember me and my best friend booting up MW2 and playing the shit out of the spec ops missions from MW2 on split screen a ton after school. When we first saw that spec ops missions would finally make its way back to cod, we got excited and even more hyped for the game.
