For example (im using 2019 figures because 2020 figures are pretty much all in the negatives because you know, Covid) , in 2019 , India had a PPP growth rate of almost 8%, while China had around 6.8%. But if you actually translate these into growth, the 8% PPP growth of India increased translates to $492, while the 6.8% PPP growth of China translates to $1654. I'd say I would put India's real potential around 2050 - 60, where I think we'll see some insane economic growth. But I think you could be right too, after the pandemic we will have to see how the Indian economy recovers. If I've learned one thing in all my years, it's to never trust an economic prediction 😂. Who knows, we can only observe what is in the future for India's economy

That's not going to happen. English is the passport language now. Mandarin won't take it's place. It just won't. I don't see any feasible way of that happening. Many countries will prosper by the end of this century.

It really depends on which side of the belt and road you're on. On the European/western side people aren't going to learn mandarin. On the eastern/subservient side it'll help to learn Chinese. Either way English is going to be around for a while.

One should never underestimate the caliber of Dr Swami by the simple an unassuming manner in which he expresses his views. Most of his predictions have proved to be true. He has also proved successful in most of the matters he has taken to court. That India could surpass China some time in the future is very much a real possible especially when Dr Swami says so. India needs to take all steps necessary, now, to make full use of the productivity of its younger generation and thereby reap its demographic dividend.

Bold claims to be making. I wonder if he'd stick with this prediction given the current economic climate in India. He says Indians have an innate capacity to innovate. True, but the surrounding environment needs to be conducive to maximize the potential. Less bureaucracy, a more secular state, and more pro-industry/pro-growth policies from central Govt are all needed.

Come to think even during Trade war and West favoritism on India, CHINESE economy grew faster than Indian economy way back 2019. Lol. And it's bold claim that you just need 7 Trillion yet even magically getting to 17 Trillion and say CHINA doesn't grow in 7 years like it's close to impossibility, India will still be 3rd largest economy behind CHINA and US and 4th if you count EU as one entity. Lol. Even CHINESE politicians and economists don't do bold claims like surpassing or making its economy 2x larger than US within a period of time where in fact much closer to achieve than India surpassing its neighbor in the north.
