The latest guest to join Mikey Burrows and Chris Iwelumo on the Old Gold Club is former striker, John Richards. The club legend discusses scoring goals at the top level, training at West Park and walking up the steps at Wembley as well as much, much more.

He was called King John for a reason, no matter how modest John is. We loved him then, we love him now, and we always will. My hero. "Oh, Johnny...oh, Johnny! You're the greatest in the land, Oh, Johnny...Johnny Richards, you're the greatest in the land"

My memory of him is that he always gave everything for the team, and when he had a decent chance, more often than not he put it away. No airs or graces, it was very easy to like him in a period when media and TV was very limited so we knew little about the players other than what we saw on the pitch. It’s lovely to watch this and confirm what a nice man he is. Respect.

Loving these podcasts so please keep them coming! A great insight into the different eras these former players played in and for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Stories told that you probably haven't heard before and the different relationships between the players/management is lovely to hear about. Especially nice to honour and give much deserved air time to the absolute legends of the club such as the likes of Kenny Hibbitt and John Richards! Hope to hear from many more deserving inductees to the old gold club who are still with us, unfortunately quite a few have now passed but the likes of Mike Bailey, Ron Flowers, Derek Parkin, Phil Parkes, Steve Daley, Willie Carr, Steve Bull, Andy Mutch, Andy Thompson, Robbie Dennison etc, etc must be on as new heroes are made we should always remember and show our respect to the ones from years gone by.

John walked on water to Wolves fans of that era, Marc - he was practically God himself to the North and South Banks. King John was the classiest striker I ever saw wearing a Wolves shirt - you'd better believe it ;-)

John had terrifically quick ball control in tight areas which made him such a prolific scooter. I love the way so many of the old players had such affection for Wolves and kept in close touch

Along with Waggy. My joint fav wolves player of all time, been watching them since 67. Bully was great but against sunday league opposition really, whereas King John scored against the great Liverppol teams and the like. Happy times. Thank you John

John was incredible, the best striker in the country but didn't get the international caps for England that he should have got. I saw him play for wolves a lot and I especially remember the goal against coventry in the F.A.cup in 1973. He was quick and lethal, a true king and Wolves legend.

It's criminal, Jonathan - King John was as good as anything England had to offer. He was, and always will be, my eternal hero. God only knows what King John Richards would be worth in today's market. A Wolves legend up there with the very best.
