S1 - Ep 154 - Vosburg - A Town Located in the Upper Karoo of the Northern Cape!

The funny thing about this part of our journey was the fact that we had to travel on tar to get to Vosburg and then travelled on gravel roads in the town which was fantastic! This small town is located in the upper part of the Karoo which is in the Northern Cape. The townspeople are so proud of their village and it shows in how neat and tidy it is. It was awesome just driving around and talking to them, even the gentleman who filled our vehicle with fuel was so helpful and friendly. We checked into our accommodation at Morester Self-Catering Guest House and were greeted by a wonderful, friendly host. The house was absolutely awesome and we felt right at home! We were so hungry after driving around and waiting for loadshedding to pass so that Die Ketel could give us food and what great food it was! #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #vosburg #upperkaroo #northerncape #dieketel

I have been to Vosburg about 6 years ago. Lovely quaint little town, with lovely friendly people. Seems like nothing has changed. Thanks for bringing back memories.

We were looking forward to our visit to Vosburg and was not disappointed. It was worth every moment we spent there and our accommodation was fantastic. The garden was particularly pretty. 💚

The Stained glass windows in the NG church - are lovely . If you could get inside and see them from the other side, we would learn more about what was important to the congregation. The window you showed was very much along the lines of Art Nouveaux, with organic shapes of leaves and vines and 1907 is the right era for that too, so bang up to date.. But as I am sure you know, some churches use the windows as a pictorial memorials of events or key figures from that church community - but I am not sure if that is NGK practice or not( it is in the Anglican Churches). The fact the church has a dome, indicates the auditorium is probably round and I believe the woodwork inside is very special. So a place well worth visiting - thanks for giving us a taste of what we will find when we visit the place next year. Vosberg is like Graaff Reinet , there are dozens of national monument buildings in a very small town but thank goodness someone wanted to preserve those old buildings - they are indeed so lovely and so evocative of a very different speed of life there.

I have insisted that we spend 2 weeks in the Karoo this time(this visit) just exploring these little towns - there is so much to see and enjoy off the beaten track( and for me to photograph). The other thing I love about the Karoo is its emptiness, and the fact we can drive all day and scarcely see anyone - thats pure bliss!

To your left was the hostel for the farm and others. It was a boarding school. Was there for 3 yrs. The school and behind it was the sports field and netball court.

Today I for the first time watched one of your videos and decided to see if you have been to Vosburg. And low and behold you were there in Aug. You stayed in the B+B were my sister and brother-in-law has their house on the oppesite corner, right side if you back is to the B+B. The greyish house. Man my heart just about left my body. And if somebody watched this 2 part video and are on their way there, just like to mention that there will be a good, old fashioned bazaar there this weekend. Go and visit a well loved, well looked after Karoo dorp.

This Steenbokkie is on 4 January and agrees with you fully that's it's a lousy time of year. Everyone is still celebrating Christmas and New Year and fed-up because they have to return to work and couldn't give two hoots about celebrating a birthday. 🙃 We live many hours away from the Karoo, but it calls us back time-after-time. And we're always happy to answer that call! 😍

The only place we'll ever travel to with a flask, is to Kruger where it is exclusively reserved for Milo. 😁 We're happy to order takeaway cappuccino or hot chocolate whenever we feel like it. I'm not sure what fuel you're referring to, but I fuel myself at least three times a day, just not always on camera.

I'm an Englishman who grew up in the Free State, therefore the strong accent. 😁 Vosburg is a fantastic town and I pronounce it exactly as I spell it, with a rolling 'r' just like Sonia would. Glad you're catching up on old videos. 👌🏻🚙
