Wow l just love those huge rocks and the scenery along the way was amazing. Its really something out of the ordinary. Great reminds me of a movie l saw just expect to see a big spider come over the mountain. Beautiful.

I love the churches that you video. So Beautiful. I remember way back when I was little, that the Pakhuis Pass was very dangerous road. Narrow, gravel, full of turns....many accidents. But the modern version looks quite tame and very accessible

We also love the churches! ⛪ Quite fascinating that every place, no matter how small, was basically built around the church. And the architecture in most of them is absolutely astonishing and so very well-preserved. The Pakhuis Pass is a beautiful road and completely passable in any vehicle. 🚗

"This is the view from the top...but we are at the bottom" ...perhaps the most prolific statement from any KZbinr, absolutely brilliant 👏 👌 👍, I am new to your channel and enjoying it so far ...I hope that many more do too and like & subscribe

If you continued on with driving that pass, you would have eventually come to the grave of a british soldier, and shortly after that is another mountain pass, and that pass leads to a massive valley.

We visited the grave of the Englishman in Episode 89. 👍🏻 In fact the grave is actually on our thumbnail for that episode. We also continued on the gravel road as you suggested on our way to our ultimate destination that day, which was a farm between Calvinia and Williston. It was a fantastic area to visit. 🤩

I'm so happy you guys traveled to all these places. I'm busy with my tourist guide certification and I can't go everywhere. It looks a lot of fun wherever you go.

Learned to swim in that dam, in late 1950's. Traditional style, taken into deep water by father, told he'll see me back on the shore. Clearly, I made it.

Thank you for sharing that fun story with us, although I'm sure it wasn't much fun at the time! 😨🏊🏼♀️ So glad to hear you made it, with that kind of practice, you could've gone on to make swimming a very successful career. 😜🌊

@@DustBugsTravel You sharp! Went on to become Scuba Dive Master and Deep Rescue DIver. Too old now, of course. Your travels are great. I have been to some of the places you mention, as a child travelling from SWA to the Cape, all on dirt roads back then in a Chev station wagon. Even Merweville a year ago. I was sceptical such a place existed but a mate of mine dragged me there to prove it 😅
