S1 - Ep 83 - Into the clouds at Prince Alfred’s Pass!

Prince Alfred’s Pass is known as Thomas Bain's greatest work. This pass takes you from Knysna to Uniondale and is the longest pass in South Africa at 68,5 km. We had an amazing adventure up to the Spitskop viewpoint high into the clouds. The road was washed out by the recent rain they had in the region but our little car had no problem dealing with this. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #princealfredspass

This is one road I have never taken. Don't think I would either. Very beautiful, but very scary!!!

It was rather steep, but we had no issues. And, although very cloudy that day, the view from the top was awesome! So glad we decided to take it.

One does get that scary feeling while driving through the forest but it it remains beautiful.

About 20 years ago a friend and I went up that road. Today it looks in superb condition, back then 4wd was recommended but my Merc 300e sailed up there and just ate the rough spots. Clear day, view from Mossel Bay to Natures Valley. Searing heat at turn off at bottom, freezing at viewpoint; the temp drop was staggering.

If Roger's Opel Kadett had high ground clearance and he took it super slow, I'm sure it would've. 😁🚕 Rather steep in places, but well worth it when one gets to the top, even although it was super cloudy and overcast on the day we were there. ☁️☁️

In it's stride, just take it slow and easy. Well worth it, especially on a clear day.
