This is one of the favorite places my late Dad used to take me fishing when I was a kiddo. I wonder what it would be like if there were more small boat cuts. Went through there a few times later in life with my 32' and 42' shrimp boats. Tight lines !

Went out yesterday to the south jetty and hooked up with a few smacks but couldn't bring them in! Ended up w some sharks, sheepshead & one spec. Probably will try the boat cut next time. Keep up the good work

I don’t get to fish everyday so if I hook a fish with some meat, that suckers is gonna get “Release to grease”. No sense in catching fish and then going to eat a burger after, atleast not to me!

Mark, love the ultra light action. I'm in the market for a ultra light rod/reel. What gear are you using, and what would you recommend if I'm primarily saltwater fishing? Thanks in advance.

I use two setups for ultra-lite fishing. My traditional setup is a Shimano Sahara 500 series spinning reel spooled with 5# braid and paired to a 5' Bass Pro Shops Micro-lite rod. I currently have MTZ Custom Rods building me an Ultra-lite spinning rod right now. It should be ready in a couple of days. My second setup is a Shimano Conquest 100 series bait-caster spooled with 15# braid and paired to a custom rod by MTZ. It's an XL 7 footer. Has Fuji titanium guides with SIC inserts, Shimano Gold wrapping, German burl cork handles and Fuji reel seat. It's one of my favorite setups to use. The rod bend is unbelievable and addicting to look at. Most people think you need big MH setups to bring in the beacon. But if you're a decent fisherman you can test your skills with a Light action or Xtra-lite. I think selecting a rod is like picking your nose, you shouldn't let others do it for you. I don't know what you like to cast, the style of lures you use, the target species, if you're in a boat or kayak or off the bank. There's so many variables that I consider when having a new rod made. But I will say this, stop buying what the big brand rod manufactures push onto the consumer public. They expect you to fit their mold of what they produce. You can get exactly what you want and need for around the same price if not cheaper from a custom rod builder. Just my .02, good luck with your setup!

I’d recommend a sit on top. Once a sit in fills with water it game over until you get it all out. And hopefully you have solid ground to do it on.
