I have 2 pro-tec helmets, one white gloss for hot summer weather and a matte black for cold winters,. It's a solar thang, and yes it makes a big difference in my comfort. Like you my head is not round. I think I will go for the S1 lifer for my next helmet. the fit and quality look better. Thanks!

Very helpful review. I've got what I guess would be called a long oval head (or normal head shape ie not a circle!), so more narrow on the sides. Almost all helmets dig into my forehead leaving a red circle, while there's too much room on the sides that the helmet can rock from side to side. Anyway, hope the Lifer has been treating you well these past couple years.

The forehead rub! I think you’ll like the Lifer. I still have it and the only thing I had to do was replace the pads because they wore out from sweating. That’s any helmet in Arizona though. S1 is definitely a premium helmet that’s affordable-

Haha, save the world?! You have high expectations but I'll do what I can. I've been contemplating buying one of these helmets all year but haven't been active so only just getting back to research now. I thought you might find it interesting that the star liner at the top can be bought in different thicknesses. Wonder if that might offer even more of that "perfect fit" customisation. s1helmets.com.au/product/replacement-star-liner/ Also they got washable terrycloth wrapped regular liners now too which I imagine would be great after a few summer sessions. So stoked to get mine and get back out on my board!

Just going through S1 Helmet videos other than mine, lol and a little late but I like my S1 Lifer Helmet Watermelon edition. I’m glad I got the S1 instead of the Protec when someone mentioned it on a SE Bikes group page last year. But to each their own. S1 obviously know what they’re doing when it comes to helmets and the whole science behind it. So far, reliability, comfort, and the ability to switch out pads for different size heads for that perfect fit. What else’s is not to like about this. I liked it so much that I got another one to match my other bike. No issues with the S1 for sure.

Also you can buy replacement inner felt pads anytime if they break or wear off, or for some reason your head shrinks and you need to up size a thickness on the pads, lol. What a great company

Just curious this Fall/ Winter will be first time commuting to work on bicycle wearing a helmet. I normally wear a face covering, beanie, plus hoodie in cold weather. That being said, will helmet be sufficient to keep my head warm during colder weather? Any info will be helpful.

Dominic Soto brother, I live in Phoenix. I literally have no idea what cold weather is. I’d wear a face shield for the wind and see how that works first. It covers your head but has some vents. If it’s still cold, I’d cover the holes with tape. When I played football and wore a helmet in the cold, I was sweating under the helmet so I assume it’s the same🤘

Thanks for the reply. Simple tape hack should work. Try it out if it doesn’t work for me. I’ll probably buy secondary helmet and go a full size bigger accommodate for beanie etc.

Yo Isaac! Glad to see you doin helmet safety. You are absolutely correct when it comes to bicycle helmets.... AS A RULE most "bicycle" helmets are "One and Done." meaning that they will not guarantee any safety after the first crash, that said some companies like Kali will give you the first one free and as for other brands that are your "typical" bicycle helmet I can't say. BUT remember that Extreme sport helmets like Pro-Tec etc are a safe bet and have been saving lives for years. You may suffer broken bones but if your brain don't work..... it is over.

Growing up in the city and seeing so many bicycle riders get hit. When I see someone riding a bicycle with a helmet on I think smart.. VS seeing someone on a bicycle riding in the city without a helmet I think dumb.. Never think cool or uncool.
