What's your opinion on MIPS technology? I've never worn a helmet while skating, but after having a bad fall (didn't hit my head) I realized I need to look into this. Seems like helmets in general are beneficial, but cars also drive closer to you when you wear one and you're more likely to hurt your head because the helmet makes it more bulky (without one you'll usually hit your shoulder first). But with MIPS it seems to me to definitely be worth having a helmet. I'm a bit surprised you talked so much about fit - which I agree is important - but so little about the MIPS part.
@wadesblades83163 жыл бұрын
Great video as always, not sure if you're aware of this but the regular version of the enui helmet without the peak comes with different thicknesses on the padding to adjust for your head. I've got a big dome myself and when I first put it on I felt like it was gonna juice my brains. When I swapped to the thinnest set of padding that comes with it I was able to make it work. Still pretty snug but wearable enough for me. I'm wondering if you got the regular version if it would fit you or not.
@BLADINGonTheBrain3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positivity. I have been told that the non peak version has different padding sizing. I tried the helmet with no peak, and thus no lining and it was still to small.

I don't have long dreads but I do have long thick curly hair. I don't do inline but I do roll on my bici & patines. I have a few cycling helmets (Giro, 2 different Specialized helmets) & I have a few helmets for roller skating like the same Triple 8 helmet featured here, S1, and Smith helmet but most of the time I don't wear any. Why? Well one, sizing/fit and two, comfort. Although my helmets fit my noggin, they only fit if I wear my hair down. My hair is thick and wearing my hair down makes me sweat even more leaving my back more sweaty than wearing my hair tide back into a low/mid/high ponytail. Problem with helmets is you cannot wear your hair tide back in any kind of ponytail without having problems with fitting issues. That long hair ponytail problem is not an issue in a couple of hard to find helmets that have the adjustable switch in the back AND have ENOUGH SPACING (or strap mobility) between the back adjustable strap AND the helmet so you can pull your long thick ponytail hair through that spacing and still have one helmet that fits your ponytail. Usually I have to wear my low ponytail all in my helmet but then that requires a bigger helmet size than wearing my hair down. I eventually have hairs getting stuck on my sweaty face when wearing my hair down so nope hair has to be tide in a ponytail. I would rather wear a roomier helmet that offers space in the back (somehow) to pull your ponytail through. My cycling helmets have the adjustable strap in the back but only my Giro helmet allows enough space between the back strap and helmet to pull my ponytail through. I'm not sure if that compromises the safety of wearing a helmet but it's the most comfortable for my thick long curly hair and head.
@BLADINGonTheBrain3 жыл бұрын
that’s such a challenge. I wish we had helmet companies thinking beyond straight, flat hair or no hair at all.
@360revolucion83 жыл бұрын
@@BLADINGonTheBrain If you have long hair/dreads pass your shoulders, do you really want to wear it down and get hotter/sweatier faster to comfortably (the comfort is temporarily until you quickly start sweating) fit a helmet? It's much more refreshing and comfortable to wear a helmet tide back but the ponytail gets in the way of fitting properly. Perhaps if helmets were design with more vent holes that can serve for ventilation or to slip your hair through if the holes are placed in areas of the helmet where a ponytail may fit through. Idk, just throwing out an idea.
