Wow! This was really interesting and came at the perfect time. Just finished working (working from home as a legal secretary for my husband), came into kitchen full of dirty dishes, mountains of laundry, no idea what's for dinner, etc...Felt anxious and upset but listened to this entire interview and got everything done and learned a lot. I was certainly over identifying with many of the feelings and descriptions of women/housewives/homemakers.

This episode was so great and exactly what I needed to hear at this point in my life. So much so that I just bought Shannon's book.

So empowering!!! Thank you so much for voicing the ok for "no" and to make mistakes. I feel sometimes we, as wives, mothers, women etc, are expected to have these expectations that are not feasible. Starting the read of Shannon's book tonight! Thank you again!

Loved this podcast. Was going to buy the book on Thrift Books, one copy was available for $7.99. The next morning it had sold. Added it to my wish list and at the time there were 38 people watching the book. Now it is almost at 200. It was on Amazon for $22.00. Was going to wait to see if it came back to Thrift Books, but now it is selling on Amazon for $40.00.... No doubt this podcast brought a surge of interest in the book (and price gorging to boot!)

One of my favorite books. 💗 Checked it out at the library about 5 or 6 years ago, and was amazed at how deeply it resonated with me. Thank you for this great talk!

Fantastic conversation to listen to while working in the "garden" transplanting yet another tomato sucker that took off! 😉 You two touched on so many important subjects, so much so that I should've taken notes! Because I'm wanting to comment on several things, but waited until the video was finished and now I don't know where to even begin! 🤔😜🤣 Let me just say this then....I could listen to you two go all day, go even deeper on all of those topics!! I coin myself a Wannabe Homesteader because I'm right exactly where you described, having learned many skills & are now putting them into practice! 😉👌🤞

Would it be normal to have 5 cycles of renounce/reclaim/rebuild in 20 years? If I take it further back, I can also identify this cycle in the whole of my adult life. It's no wonder I am currently tired and teetering on the brink of depression, feeling a little lost and directionless. And I'm pretty sure that my self-judgement is way harsher than any decent human being would throw at me.

Interesting…my mother used the term “homemaker” because of the negative connotation of “housewife” back in the ‘50s. And she was a business owner, too! (I don’t use the common KZbin phrase “as well”. What wrong with “too” and “also”?)

In fact I just learned an interesting factoid (the hard way) that Cast Enamel waterbath canners should NOT be used on flat glass/ceramic cooktops!! After only 2 weeks of use for only boiling water and only 1 small canning cycle, there were small holes developing into the outer underside of the pot!! So naturally I took it back, so yes there may very well be a "quality issue" with these cheap mass produced crapola from.... elsewhere, 😉 But thats a whole other topic of discussion! Lol Love what you ladies shared, lots for me to think about moving forward!! 🤔😉 Sending warm well wishes from Ontario 🇨🇦
