What a sad and undemocratic state of affairs if an inconsequential amount of votes can be denied by only a few people and then that will affect the entire country's election result. 300 million people say yes, but these 20 thousand people said no, so therefore the winning end result is no.
@quietreason8679Ай бұрын
That's a good point. None of these election shenanigans Republicans are trying would be effective if there was no electoral college. If the winner was simply the candidate with the most votes, ditching even hundreds of thousands of votes in several states would likely make no difference, as most presidential electinos are millions of votes apart. The reason it gets down to these really tight margins is that getting a few thousand ballots declared invalid in a swing state can result in all the electoral college votes going to one candidate.

Most of those questions are designed to keep the person on the other end talking until help arrives. And some callers can be rather distraught and unaware of what they're saying too. Since the operator cannot physically see the scene, it's possible that the caller may have mistook "cut to the neck" with "decapitated" English speakers also love hyperbole. you can't rig an air-gapped electronic voting machine, unless you can hack the original software code before it gets loaded onto the machine. even then, each machine is tested on the day of voting, before any voters are permitted to vote, and any non-conformity invalidates a voting machine. however, every state choosing its own system of paper ballots, and how these are counted, enables room for manipulation, as the ridiculous 2000 Florida chads bullshit proved in George Bush Jr versus Al Gore. that election was decided by a few judges, not by US citizens. but besides the potential for vote rigging, you have to look at how virtually every other country chooses a leader based on the popular vote -- you get the most votes, you win -- whereas the US election is decided by a 200-year old anachronism called the electoral college -- each state decides who gets the electoral college votes, not US citizens. this makes it clear that the US voting system was never about fair elections -- one person, one vote -- it was always about a powerful minority owning the election system, which they then laughingly call "democracy".

In public vehicles like subways and such, there is an emergency stop lever, which if used incorrectly (or in this case abused) you will be punished. I don't get why there isn't something similar for submitting fkin 100k false challenges. Not only they are wasting peoples time, they are wasting government money

Can someone explain to my European mind, why is voter registration even a thing? In my country everyone is automatically put on the voter roll in the place are registered to live at (people without permanent housing can register at the municipality). I just show up the day of election with my ID (obligatory document). I have never heard fear-mongering about non-citizens voting and we do have a lot of fear-mongering about foreigners.
@nddragoonАй бұрын
it's a roadblock to make people not vote, because republicans win when turnout is low
@KleyguerthАй бұрын
The official answer is that in the US people do not have a country wide ID. There's no single document that everyone has that could be used, so a voter registry is needed. The real answer is that the US is not, and has never been, a real democracy and constantly finds ways to keep "undsirables" from voting. In the 1800s it was simply written into law, in the 1980s it was by jailing them (and having in the law that people with a prison record lose their right to vote) and now in the 2020s it is by doing what's depicted in this video.

The U.S. is a corrupt autocratic plutocracy masquerading as a democracy, but unfortunately: "Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance. No one in this world, so far as I know -and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me - has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.” - H.L. Mencken, Notes on Democracy

Using food for coding orders is kinda genius, hard to learn the code, but when learned it should be a lot faster to communicate what the order is. I love it, would'nt wan't to learn it though.
@qllamsАй бұрын
I'm confused about why everyone is so against it: you can see at a glance what's needed, and you always have a reminder until you're done with that order. There is no need to squint at a tiny print or jumbled handwriting, no need to scratch out anything. Genius! We humans recognize visual information much easier than anything more modern, like writing or speech, so it actually uses less of your brain power, and you are going to be less mentally tired in the end of the day.
