You should get either Decorator crabs or Arrow crabs. On second thought, you should probably get Arrow crabs either way, since they get rid of common pests like Fireworms. I’d also recommend getting hermits to eat all the detritus.

Pretty interesting how a lot of content creators seem to be moving into keeping a reef tank. Definitely seems appealing, looking at a coral reef always reminds me of an alien world. It is totally unlike anything else in nature which adds to the appeal.

I think it's because things are becoming a lot more accessible and affordable. Price and the sheer workload was pretty intimidating but it's not as bad as it used to be from what I've been discovering. That said, I'm still completely new to it 😅 but I'm looking forward to it all. It really is like an alien world especially soft corals

Super excited to follow this project! Don't have the courage (or funds) to go saltwater myself, but I really enjoy watching others do it and I'm sure you are going to make it look amazing!

You sound exactly like me 🙂cost and time for keeping it happy and healthy were my biggest worries. So I slowly started collecting bits and peices until I had everything, though it took a while! I really like your confidence in my abilities! I hope I don't dissapoint ☺

Somehow I doubt it's going to be all that ugly the next time I see it! This is a really neat project. I really appreciate how you stated the amount of salt concentration and listed all the equipment and prices so if someone else wants to try this, they'll know what they're getting into. Can't wait to see more of it, thanks for sharing this journey with us! 🙂👍

From everything I've been reading it's going to get pretty ugly 🤣Like the freshwater diatom phase but way worse. I'll post some updates as it matures though. The tip is to cycle with the lights off so perhaps that might save some of the really bad stuff. Funnily, it took me quite a few months to get all of this together and when i went back to calculate it I was like Woah 😅 But I didn't skimp as much as I usually do because just to make life as easy as possible.

@@IndoorEcosystem Ah yes, the lovely diatom phase in freshwater! 😋 Well I'll be looking forward to seeing your tank either way. I don't know anything about saltwater, so it'll be really interesting for me to see the phases it goes through! Yeah it's amazing how much $ can add up for a tank.

I fergot to also ask did yoy ever try to incorporate cherry shrimp into your vamp setup. Aslong as your able to provide a good flowing and filterd water suply to them they realy do set up camp. I found they also helped bring harmony to the setup by alowing nsturel hunting to take place instead of crab on crab combat. I was amazed when I first seen a 8mm baby vamp pounce and club a adult cherry shrimp to stun it before determinedly drawing it asure to eat. Was a true slice of nature.

@IndoorEcosystem I've just uploaded 4 unedited clips you may find interesting. Though ide uploaded them before the footage goes missing again lol. If they wasent needing so much heating costs ide still have them. I do miss having them but costs to keep water to spec in the North of England was getting a bit silly. Especially since our energy rates doubled in one year
