I was using this in my fresh water tank for a while too and it was great, so I figured I'd test it out in saltwater and it was just as good. It's super handy to keep tabs on a few core things, especially with the data it keeps so you can track patterns.

Question, I made a paladarium for some vampire crabs but made the mistake of using wild bark/moss in the paladarium and am worried that some potentially dangerous hitchhikers could’ve made their way into the tank. Is there any sorta natural pesticides I should use for a little bit before adding the crabs or will it probably be okay? Besides that snails and isopods seem to be living in the paladarium just fine.
@IndoorEcosystem2 күн бұрын
@trikelikesfish I've used wild materials in every single build I've ever made and never had any issues. What sort of dangerous hitch-hikers are you worried about?!

@trikelikesfish I find that argument silly frmor the most part as everything cones from outside in nature.... I've had more problems with pests from plants I've bought from the supermarket over the years... That said neither way is 100% fool proof so you always need to observe and react if you see something odd.

@@IndoorEcosystem There was zero doubt in my mind from my very first comment with some "feedback"...and then...the way you took it (and what you have done with it...!!!...WOW)...that you spend a reasonable amount of time "observing" while in natural places. It is impossible to honestly and sincerely create "natural enclosures" without time observing...This video, humorous or not, validates your ability to "see" and internalize that in a manner that then manifests in what you create...Thank you as always for what you are doing and passing on to others...!!!

I don't mind the little ones getting around as they really are super good at cleaning stuff but this dude was massive! So he had to go! I didn't know they would actually sting fish though. How dangerous are mitra snails to other creatures? I've never heard of them until now.

@IndoorEcosystem seems save till now. Very inactive, what if heared they will stay in a spot as long as they can eat and then move on. I am sure it also eats other microfauna but my other snails and fish etc. It leaves alone.

Very nice! Think i need to try it too. Why not Live Rock? Maybe would help to start better if you have good rocks ;-)
@IndoorEcosystem3 күн бұрын
It's super expensive here and kind of hard to come by. All the hobbyists, are trying to sell it at gold prices. And they usually have a ton of pests mixed in if its going cheap. But if you can get good live rock it's 100% better! If you have the time you could also quarantine it just to see what pops out.
@drdaddydanger15463 күн бұрын
@ yeah. Already had the idea to just buy Live Rock and see if something beautiful comes out :-) Do you think it was required to let the tank rest for 40days in blue light?
@IndoorEcosystem3 күн бұрын
@@drdaddydanger1546 You could get some cool stuff with live rock. I actually left the tank sit with no light for the first 40 or so days. It's super important to let it fully cycle before adding anything.
@drdaddydanger15463 күн бұрын
@ interesting. Dont know this. I thought with live rock i give instant light on them to keep them :-) Maybe for dead stone it is the best way to keep them time :-)
@IndoorEcosystem3 күн бұрын
@drdaddydanger1546 you can do it either way to be honest. With live rock I would run the light for a normal cycle yo see how things developed and what creatures arise. Just make sure you have an NO3 source for the bacteria to start reproducing.

I bet you never expected to be asked this -- but the stand you have the tank on, is that self built? I need something simular for our axoltotl tank so I can put our turtle beneath him, but so far haven't found anything suitable that'd fit two tanks like this. Love the video btw :D
@IndoorEcosystem3 күн бұрын
Surprisingly I get that question quite a lot! But usually on Instagram of all places. You guessed correctly. It's a home made stand to fit the space next to my desk. The tanks are all custom as well to fit the stand.... I always make life hard for myself.... It's pretty basic and all the weight is channelled into the floor. There are some really god DIY aquarium stand builds here on youtube you can follow. Just do yourself a favour and paint it first! I decided to pain it later on... Which was a nightmare...

Love it! It looks similar to my 22g Lifegard long tank. I plan on running a similar set up with just softies and macroalgaes, and clowns+CUC.
@IndoorEcosystem4 күн бұрын
Softies are great fun, keep an eye on the macro algae if you add it though it's super efficient at pulling nutrients out of the water so you will probably need to dose NO3 and PO4 or you'll get dinos like I did! That was a hard learnt lesson!
