She's a real go getter. Did you see the hardware video yet?

That chrome toilet hardware appears to be a flushometer that pressurizes the water. Then its tankless. Maybe water could have been stored in a roof cistern? We had one growing up in a beautifully designed Brooklyn highrise built in 1929. The bathroom had the same pink tiles as yours, and apale green tub and toilet.

you are correct about the flushometer. good comment.

There is a large pipe on the outside of the house going to this toilet that is probably the source of the pressurized water. One of the Kempner grandchildren remembers loving this bathroom as a child because you could flush the toilet with your foot. I bet that high-rise was beautiful!

Maybe the parlor primer was a backer for the damask fabric as was in the similar parlor at Open Gates Sealy house at 2424 Brdwy.

I'm stumped on this one. I've never been to the Open Gates. I hope I can someday.

I love clean and tidy so yes under the porch looks beautiful in my eyes. And safe and propped up makes it even better.

It is comforting to have the porch issues resolved for the moment. I'm not worried about anyone walking around down there anymore.

Honestly Janie, at this point the city of Galveston should give you the key to the city.

That song is “The Crawdad Song”. It’s… You get a pole and I’ll get a pole and we’ll meet down at the crawdad hole. 😂

I wonder if my kids even know that song. I guess I'm showing my age.

@@leaguekempnerhouse You and I are both too young for that song. It’s an old folk song with southern roots and I was wrong about the words. Lol. You get a line and I’ll get a pole. Lots of people have recorded a version. Love the work on the League House. What a stunner it must have been in it’s hayday

glad you have heather to help explain the details of the house to you, hardware, wallpaper, etc. I'm sure when the house is restored you will come away with a much better understanding of historical homes and what it takes to restore them. I bet you can't wait until that day. Best of luck.

Yes I did. The break was fun while it lasted. The wedding was in August so there was also the added benefit of avoiding some of the Texas heat!

Good morning Janie! It's 8:30 in the morning here in the UK. I thought that maybe this silvery paint is lead paint. The texture and the way it peels off might be the explanation. I googled it and found some interesting pictures. I hope it's not the case as it is toxic, adding yet another problem to your already long list. Take care my friend. Isabelle

I'm sure the house is full of lead paint, everything built before the 1970's is. It's not much of a problem unless we start sanding, which right now we don't have to do. I wish I knew if it was just a primer or if the room was painted with it for silver accents on the walls.
