THANK YOU, this video is the only one who has approached this as an adult and through a critical thinking. I see the other nomad videos and the comments and they are full of entitlement, politics and just nonsense. Ill start with the continued absurdity of bashing of government by people who live on government managed land? The facts are the fees have not increased since 2008, these run at a deficit, and the money goes to improve the facilities, that the very people who are complaining use exclusively. Thats what gets lost people mention taxes, when i visit any public lands i'm expected to pay a fee, period, but none of them are exclusive to one small group of people like an LTVA thats a big difference. There is simply no where you can live with services provided for less than $100 a month and its simple it doesn't matter what people like or want or what money they have it cost what it cost and the BLM is not out to get anyone. I appreciate you bringing up the people gaming the system by getting one permit; but there is wear and tear on public lands that belong to all and the trash, junk vehicles and cleanup also cost. None of the other videos mention any of that, when did people stop being adults, if people CHOOSE to stay here, then they agree to abide by the rules and cost, how is this such a hard concept? Id be curious to know where they stay and what they spend the rest of the year.

If they raise the fees then campers would simply live outside the BLM land and be dumping and trashing the place. It would also send the homeless residents of BLM land into town.

Not as warm as Quartzsite area, but if you are in the Show Low area you are welcome to stay @RidgeValleyRanch. Free camping, WiFi, cell service, firewood, and some water. Great views!

Brother, the yuma field office brings in over 100 million dollars each year. Where has all that money gone since 2008? Now they want to increase 233% to pay for infrastructure improvements? Sorry bro, but this doesn't pass the smell test. One must look at service provided for fees paid. The LTVA'S have been mismanaged and funds have been used elsewhere. Most people were under the impression that fees would go up from 180 to 300, a 120 dollar increase. A reasonable amount for sure, provided services and maintenance were taken care of. We all know each year, trash service was subpar, allowing copious amounts of trash to blow across the desert. Maintenance is also subpar and not in a timely manner. The list goes on with issues regarding the LTVA'S. The ol saying " you get what you pay for " doesn't seem to be the case in this situation.

Where did you find the information about the $100 million annual profit? That would be helpful in building a case against the fee increase. I was able to locate their budget but couldn't find details on their actual revenue. The only information I found was that the YFO does not publicly report specific profits. As I mentioned in my video, I'm always skeptical of anything run by the government. Last year, I didn't even use the water (got it from Yuma), which makes me wish there were different pricing tiers, since not everyone needs access to all three services (trash, dump, water).

I wonder if you were referring to the 9,192 LTVA Program ISRP Permits that were issues in 2024, stated on Page 17? For some crazy reason I was thinking they get revenue elsewhere but I don't think they do. That means last year they made $1,654,560 on LTVA permits between La Posa and Imperial Dam. Keep in mind this does NOT count their standard yearly budget!

@@doggonenomads it was about doing some rough math. I can't find the yuma office yearly revenue either. These are conservative numbers. 800,000 people come to the yuma district each year and buy a seasonal pass at 180. That's 144 million dollars annually. No we know many people buy a short term pass or two so I reduced that buy 44 million dollars giving them the benefit of the doubt. I didn't even use your figure of 890,000. I'm trying to stay on the conservative side, but this blm district still brings in over 100 million a year. The LTVA'S is a huge cash cow with little to no upgrades over the past decade. Lucky to get a little gravel on the roads on certain years. My question is, where's the money? Even if you cut those numbers by half, where's the money? I'm with you, the government can't manage anything. I subbed your channel because I like your style. At least you are looking into the numbers. Just need to dig a little deeper. My guess is the money went to the government general fund and used elsewhere despite the blm claiming funds collected in a area stay in that location. Where's the money from the last decade? It doesn't pass the smell test.

At max the should increase to $220 not $600! It’s bad enough housing is out of reach for many but for people who are just surviving it is unconscionable! I have never camped out in BLM land but I feel by BLM charging more shows extreme poor management and is abusive. Either some higher up in BLM. hired a relative or wants to hire more family for government perks. They want to put their grandchildren to work in an easy peasy job.

ridiculous comment, did you read the document?

I feel the $600 is reasonable. It isn't a matter of what the fee was. They were losing money before. Under $3 a day for water, dump, restrooms, and a place to stay. Appreciate you aren't as critical as others. There is still free camping all over the place. If you don't need the services, stay somewhere else for free.

I'd like to see this BLM LTVA budget audited by a third party FIRST. Then, propose an incremental fee increase. Like New Mexico, which strangely enough wants their annual out of state pass to go from $225 to $600, it's the businesses that will suffer the most right away because the BLM is counting on one third of the people to pay the $600, two thirds will go else where. They want to generate the same amount of money but have two thirds the expense and trouble. So, businesses dry up, the one third discover they can't get groceries and gas because they went under, so then the whole system collapses. You gotta do this incrementally. Lessen the pucker factor. Thank you for the video, maybe try to have information prepared first instead of freestylin', put info on the screen, makes a shorter video with more impact. Just my two cents, everyone has an opinion, right? 😁. I appreciate your efforts and honest video.

Thank you for the suggestions. The reason I didn't take that approach is because my last video was filmed indoors, and I wanted to shoot this one with a beautiful outdoor background. That’s a good point, though-I definitely would have been more prepared staying behind the screen. As for the audit, I’d absolutely love to see that happen, but realistically, we know the government won’t go for it-it would bring too much transparency. I hope someone proves me wrong. Another thing to consider: if you think people are overstaying the 14-day free camping limit now, just wait until they’re required to pay $600. There won’t be enough law enforcement or rangers to enforce it! Additionally, great point coming from the business perspective as well, I didn't think about that!

@@doggonenomads I didn't think of the over-stay problem they will have. Very good point. The ticket may be cheaper than the monthly charge. I'd REALLY like to know how our government got so fucked up. I was a kid in the 80's but I don't remember shit like this going on. I too am a veteran, four years on an aircraft carrier working for the judge, and yeah, I saw some pretty awful mismanagement, less than ethical behavior regarding ship policy (which I will not get into publicly), and more things swept under the rug that, well never mind. I'm just sayin' this BLM thing is just a little fish in an ocean of problems that, I'll say it - won't be fixed without a reset. Kudos for the outdoor background for the video Charles. I appreciate the video. I subscribed.

@@peaksandpieces Thank you! As a fellow veteran, I can completely relate to having seen some messed up things. The more I dig into this, the more questions come up. I’m planning on doing a part two, like you suggested, where I’ll go through the data line by line at my computer. Hopefully, that will encourage people to start asking questions and get more involved. You hit the nail on the head I have said it a hundred times (more lately) that the only fix for this country is a reset. How that happens...well...who knows, but no options look good.
