Yes. To me it's a Note23 Ultra. A rose by any other name. I'm glad it has the S-Pen. It's very similar to my Note20 Ultra but better in many ways. I do miss the micro SD card slot but I'm done shedding tears over that.

Samsung have tried eliminating the S Pen being indwelling in the past. They retraced their steps. The only reason I never consider any other Android phone is the S Pen. I was so surprised and disappointed on buying my first iPhone some years ago to discover the Apple Pen doesn’t work with iPhones. Being able to slot the S Pen into the phone is FANTASTIC. Once the phone is unlocked I automatically remove my S Pen.

No, no, no, don't touch my S Pen. I've already been disgruntled by the end of the Note series. The integration of the S Pen was to regroup the Note and S into a single series. Let it stay that way or revive the Note but don't remove the S Pen entirely.

I totally agree. I love the Note series, been a fan of the Note since the beginning. I use the s-pen a lot for copy, paste, photo editing, photo cut on web pages, etc. None of the phones on the market can do what the s-pen does. I was saddened when Samsung announced the discontinued of the Note series. Took me a couple years to over come that and decided to upgrade my Note 20 ultra 5g for the S23 Ultra 512GB. Can't wait till I get it in.

Yeah I've received my S23U a few days ago and I'm loving it ! Even if I haven't completely switched to it yet from my good old Note 8. (I'm a very slow "mover", and use both devices for a few weeks, phasing out the old one in stages while using the new baby more and more until the switch is completed. Overnight switching gives me nightmares 🤣). Though I would love the Note series to be reborn, loving the fact that each Note iteration capitalized on and improved S series innovations of each year in a larger, wider format. I'm just hoping that my new precious will not end up swelling like almost all my previous devices.

Went from a zfold 3 and not even lying my battery life doubled. Obviously, the folds battery has been aged since I got it. But after normal use at work, I have double the battery life remaining on the s23 ultra.

Great content. Just because you don't use the s pen regularly doesn't mean it should be gone. I use my s pen on my note20 ultra and love it. I'm still keeping my note20 ultra it hasn't let me down. And with the 1UI 5.1 it's getting, it will still be a beast. As for the screen scratches, if you're paying 1,200 or more for the phone, better put a screen protector on it, film, or glass and a supcase unicorn beetle pro.

You defintely need to examine the S-Pen in detail and get up to date on it's features. There's no way Samsung is doing away with it. The Camera and the S-pen is what pushes the boundries beyond ordinary. So many more features on the S23 Ultra S-Pen. You are the only person I've read that hasn't raved about it.

Watching it on my S 23 Ultra - Graphite 256 GB variant. This is just amazing how much improvement has been made from S 22 Ultra. Amazing in hand feel with great features that majority of the phones cannot match. Changing tracks with S Pen, Using it as a shutter release makes the most sense and it feels good knowing that you have something which is unique and premium in its own way.

Well said. I likened it to my Note20 Ultra, very similar but improved across the board. I like your description of the "...in hand feel..." My first impression was that it has a 'new in-hand feel'. I can tell the difference between this new S23 Ultra and my Note20 Ultra. The S23 Ultra has a satisfying heft to it due to the larger battery and I like that bit of extra weight.

I just changed from my s21 ultra, I wasn't going to because I didn't feel I needed to but the 512gig storage and battery sold it for me, I was convinced it would be no different from my already fast s21 ultra but I was wrong, it feels snappier much snappier, it's a welcoming change with the different design also and the battery is fantastic, glad I changed now rather than doing it for convenience, I'm still not overly sold on the camera improvements I feel it's not a huge leap from the 21 and 22

Don't forget, even though you can't use microSd card slots to put them directly into the phone, you so can use external storage such as hard drives. There are also special adapters where microSD can be inserted into and you can still use it that way it's just that you can't keep it directly in the phone which sucks but it is what it is. Also, magsafe has come to S23 series which is great.

I agree. The cameras are not optimized yet. Or seen from another perspective: The s21u and the 22u have been so optimized that it makes no sense to compare them to the unoptimized s23u before at least one update.

My take on the S Pen as someone who moved from the Note 8 to the S22 Ultra is, it's a good thing to have. I would definitely use it more if it allowed for better integration with productivity tools like PowerPoint and Miro. Samsung should actively work with companies to bring out the full potential of the pen, especially moving forward in the Ultra and the Fold lineups. I currently use my own for jotting down quick notes or for some quick photo editing but beyond that, not much in terms of sustained use.

Mate, if they take out the s-pen without reintroducing the note I would go straight to iphone. I still have the note 20 ultra just because of the pen. Indispensable for someone that actually needs to mark up on drawings, sign online, get a quick note without unlocking the phone, draw a quick sketch etc. If u don't use it doesn't mean is a gimmick! 😆

@Pavel C I just barely transferred over my data and signed into a handful of accounts and apps. Also I've been on vacation, so not using as I normally would, and have been going back and forth on the s22u for all the accounts and apps I haven't signed into. I need some time with the phone to make a fair assessment, but so far there appears to be some battery improvement. I'm thinking a couple of weeks will put me on track to using the phone like my s22u with all the apps and accounts I use on the s22u signed in and running in the background. Also this unit I bought through a carrier which won't unlock it for some months so I can't insert the second network I usually have in my s22u to see how that affects battery life.[I bought the s22u direct from Samsung so that probably makes a difference especially if you consider running 2 different network simultaneously Vs the 1 I can only run now.

Not God tier like the iPhone 13PM, but I do think the s23u battery/efficiency seems very close to the iPhone 14PM. EDIT: The biggest test I can't perform is dual Sim on a different network. I have to wait 60day for phone unlock.

I have actually returned my /first/ s23 ultra (green) unit, because of that gap between the frame and back panel. Also, the back panel looked like it is a tiny bit smaller than it should be, as there was noticable "step" in the corners. Also, the Samsung logo on the back was a bit blurry. I went to the Samsung brand store and looked at all colors and only green had this, others were perfectly fine. After return, I have ordered black unit and it is also perfectly fine, no gap and sharp logo.

Upgraded from note 10 lite to s23 ultra. It was expensive but without spen, I would not even consider spending so much money on a smartphone. I would just buy some random Xiaomi etc. for 200-300 with the ok camera. The thing with spen is it's changing the equation a bit now you don't have just a smartphone you also have a digital diary and sketchbook plus quite a decent book reader with easy highlighting in one device... So yeah I'm willing to spend more for a device only when I have more functions that are useful to me. I don't care about status symbols, brands, etc. It is just another phone made in Asia but this one has features I use daily, that is the reason why I bought it.

They won’t remove the s pen, it’s highly useful. Since it’s not your daily driver you haven’t found it useful. It replaces the note pad and pen, for example when your on the phone and need something to write on, it’s way faster than typing. It’s something I use daily when I am the phone. It’s the main feature why I left the iPhone 14 pro max, I actually feel like I upgraded, and I’ve been using iPhones since the first iPhone.

on the smartphone, is a protective film from the manufacturer. the protective film is applied very precisely, so you can hardly see it. when you take off this protective film you will see that the display is in ok.

Scratch resistance... they make it seem impossible to achieve, but it can't be that hard to make. Maybe the companies that create screen protectors are paying a good amount for % from sales to the phone manufactures to keep them scratchy.

No, there are other phone with that chip but not much battery time improvements. 1. Samsung MAKES its own parts from dram to isocell imaging sensor to display, soc, to battery(SDI is the samsungs battery unit and has some break thru tech). 2. Apple buys its parts and assemble them. Company basically has zero tech feasibility but their phone results in better output bcuz of their software power. Samsung also started to emphasize on optimization so could be that.

Didn't get the s23 ultra so please no bashing. Last year all the reviewers went crazy about the s22u and so I gave my 13 pro max to my son and bought the s22u. Worse decision ever. Battery was rubbish, camera also over hyped. Stutter were the order of the day. Went also to Samsung centre as I thought mine was a bad phone, but after checking my phone they told me that nothing was wrong. So my point is, reviewers always say it's better, then when I switched i was very disappointed. Will be glad until someone I really know will get one and see what is his outcome before I switch back again. So no rush.

Upgrading from the s20+ exynos was the best decision I made. I've got photos of my screen on time on my s8+ exynos and I killed the phone in 4 hours screen on time back when it was new while my s23 ultra 3 hour screen on time daily only took 50% battery

The only reason I even consider Samsung over Google's pixel is the pen. It's the only reason I haven't gotten a zfold (no pen silo. I'd lose the loose pen in a couple hours) You can't type a math equation. You can type a quick sketch of a project idea.

S23U needs a software improvements. Pics on S22U is way better than S23U. The photos taken with S23U is oversharpen & too much contrast. The battery however was amazing. SOT up to 7 hrs & standbytime up to 15 hrs. Once they had fixed the camera software, this phone will be my daily driver for the next 5 yrs.

As much as I love the S23 Ultra. One UI.51 completely broke the automatic wallpaper colour palette feature and colour palette is completely gone on volume slider. If you care about that stuff don't update.

9:10 - NO! They better not remove the S-Pen and many of us are NOT down for that. This feature alone is what brought me BACK to Samsung when they discontinued the Note series.

That's my biggest complaint from this phone. Yes? The sharpening after it processes from taking the picture. I wish I could get out of that because it doesn't look as natural. But the camera is phenomenal

How did he able to do 40-60% in a day with the s22 while mine drains faster if the 120hz is enable. Also when I set it to 60hz thats when I feel the battery last longer.

I got the black S23U 512, I did buy a screen protector and a magsafe cover, live the feel of this phone in my hand, Iam at work and would not be able to charge it and for 3 hours it only drops to 90%

The reason why s23 ultra isn't good in many areas of camera as the s22 ultra because the s23 ultra just came out and s22 ultra has been getting software updates for a year giving it more time to improve the s22 ultra on day 1 was much worse than s23 ultra I'd u remeber correctly.

Wait till I do my "own real world tests" on the battery and that is 90% of what I use my phone for is filming planes for my plane spotting channel. Always shooting in 4k @60fps I will give you my feedback later after I get my phone from Verizon

I am thinking of trying out the s23..nobody talks about the layout of apps on iPhones the font is tiny!! If you try and change it then it’s fiddly and does not work through all apps also the iPhone is very heavy!!feels very awkward..the speakers and cameras are amazing though

I’ve only ever loved the note series. Love the fact they added the s pen to the s series. If they take away the stylus I’m done too. I know a lot of people don’t use it and say it’s a gimmick. It’s a very very usable tool and I love it.

I have a massive problem with the fingerprint sensor! Most of the times I have to do it 3 or 4 times and many of the times it blocks me for 30 sec! And I just put an ultra tin screen protector and I had this problem even before installing this protector! Does any one else have this problem?
