You passed Metropolis' IL (home of Superman) on your port side before Paducah. You could have taken a picture by the Superman statue. You also passed Chester, IL north of Cape Girardeau which is the home of Popeye. Just north of Chester you passed Ste. Genevieve the oldest city west of the Mississippi (where I am from). You're missing all the good stuff lol! Next time through you stop and we will BBQ!

Thank you Dean! We had no idea! We do wish we had more time in the area, next time we BBQ :) Thank you for sharing!

My parents had a boat at Honkers Boat Club at Red Star ramp in Cape Girardeau in mid 60s. Used to take their boat to that sandbar and picnic.

Enjoying my backtracking on your Great Loop adventure. Gotta admit I've never been a fan of river running for all the junk in the water. In my early boating days when I did run the Alabama River near home, I always proceeded slowly and kept a handful of prop shear pins handy, hoping no damage to the prop itself (had a spare one of those too!). I'm a bit curious why y'all chose the eastern segment between MO & KY rather than the western segment staying on the Mississip thru Memphis and down to New Orleans. If you've answered that in a vid I've missed, point me in the right direction for the answer. BTW, from my sailing days I met a few sailboaters that did the GL and in my opinion they were gluttons for punishment. But that's just me.

We been boating on the Ohio river for years . If you take a rope but a garden hose on it and tie a knot giving you loop then give about 6 or 7 feet of line put on center cleat . But have knife if you need cut to it. It makes easy for locking .

I saw some boaters with set ups like that! I learned a lot about proper ball (fender) placement which makes all the difference too! :) Thank you for sharing!

SHORTS?! You’re either brave or crazy. 🥶 Great music for the “Dinghies & Dogs” segment (and of course I loved that Ollie had a decent amount of screen time!)

I had a smaller boat on the Mississippi many years ago. Now I have a boat on Lake Michigan that has pods. All that debris in the river scares me!

I will say, we were surprised at how many logs there were in the Mississippi. You definitely had to keep a close watch! Thank you for watching :)

Paducah Kentucky is a pretty laid-back town. A few old structures to gander at. It is however a beautifully wooded area mixed with some family farms. I have some family there and have enjoy some fine Deer and Turkey hunting in and around there. You have at last met my most southern journey on the rivers. So what lies ahead of you I will be paying attention to and anticipating many more wonderful adventures. I'm so pleased to have found your channel. Remarkable how much I've grown to respect and genuinely care for the two of you guys! Looking forward to the day I shake your hand and sit to share a meal. Until then, be safe and continue to live life to the fullest.

Thank you for sharing your journey on YT. I would like to upgrade to a sea ray similar to yours . As some of your other viewers mentioned I would also be interested in your fuel burn at different rpm/speeds under normal conditions . Looking forward to more videos .

Great videos. Thanks for the videos. We plan on starting the loop next year this time of year. My wife wants to know what make are the gray boots Kathy had on on this video?

Thank you Mike! These boots i have are SO comfortable! they are like tennis shoe grip, but used for boating. The brand is XTRATUF and I have the SPORT kind. I was worried my feet would get hot, and so far they are perfect! Thank you for watching and happy LOOP planning :)

How come you didnt give us the 'feels like' temperature? Nothing worse than a Sea Ray running a generator to ruin a beautiful and quiet anchorage at dawn for other cruisers.
@cruisingandromeda10 ай бұрын
Hello Peter! I guess we didn't think of it. It was cold though! We only ran the generator for a bit to warm up the boat. It wasn't an issue.....everyone was up and starting engines. Thank you for watching!
