I am new to your channel. I have been watching all your videos from the beginning to the present. Thanks for sharing your experience. I am planning to add a house batteries on my boat (it didn’t have one when I bought the boat). I wanted to ask you if you can share your thoughts about the house batteries that you installed. Has been almost 2 years if I’m not wrong. How the batteries are performing, are you happy with them or were you going to install a different brand? Thanks

Hello! Thank you for joining us! We have SunXtender AGM batteries. We held off on lithium batteries because we thought new battery technology was coming. (Sodium ion) , We are very happy with our system, the AGM's are doing well. Someday down the line, we will probably have to make the switch to lithium. If you want more info, or to get in touch with Bob who knows more....you can email him [email protected].

Must have been quite a feeling after 9 months and one nasty underwater log to get going again. Not many have disasters like that. When sailing from Coinjock, NC headed n. on the icw to Norfolk, Va we hit a day mark (telephone pole) at 6 knots on the starboard forequarter which was an accident of inattention on my part. Eventually this led to glasswork and repainting the whole boat but we were then darned glad we had not holed the boat. Congrats.

I was curious if Bob really knew how to handle the cast off chores...and then the real expert took over the bow😉! The Manhattan Skyline was a remarkable sight. But the Statue of Liberty coming into view was truly impressive. I can only imagine what the immigrants of a long ago bygone era must have felt when She came in to view after a long Atlantic crossing. I've only seen the New York skyline from 30-50 miles out over the Atlantic at about 11,000 feet letting down in to Hartford CT. Not nearly as impressive as your views.

This is exactly what I was thinking coming into the harbor. I have family that came through Ellis Island by boat from Ireland.......It was so emotional for me! I just kept thinking what a long journey they had, in not so nice conditions....and to be on the same waterway was so moving.

Carly Simon’s lyrics came to mind as you approached Manhattan: “Silver cities rise, the morning lights the streets that lead them, and sirens call them on with a song.” I’m not a city girl, but it’s impossible to not be awed by seeing New York City from the water and cruising past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Very moving and emotional. It was cute seeing Ollie watching you disconnect power and release docklines preparing to leave Staten Island …he’s so interested in what you’re doing, and wants to be sure you’re not going anywhere without him!) 🥰

@cruisingandromeda
@cruisingandromeda 6 сағат бұрын
Hello! We can run it bow or stern. We typically use the bow as it is easier with our dinghy and we prefer bow in at a marina if we have a choice. It is easier with our dog Ollie, as he is VERY social and would follow anyone with a smile :) We have the cord case thing strapped on our bow rails. Not the prettiest of set ups....but it works for us! Thank you for asking!

Loved the music selections, especially at the beginning - you have a great knack for finding instrumentals that enhance the video rather than being a distraction. 👍🎶 I think I’d be apprehensive going ‘outside’ and making that loooong run up the coastline, but looks like the Atlantic treated you well, and it must be really exciting to pull into the lower bay and be so close to seeing New York City from your own boat! Incredible. (And, oh yeah - both Don and I loved the ‘Pupdate’ and seeing precious Ollie looking none too thrilled with the offshore run!)

If you’ve not had education or training in video production, then your your native skills are nothing short of astounding. Your videography, sound recording, narration, editing and continuity, and music selection are just outstanding. You absolutely know how to tell a story. Your passion for it really shows. Who the hell cares if you occasionally mispronounce “cay!” In my early to mid-20s (I’m about to turn 68), I was employed in creative endeavors. I know what goes into making these videos. You make it seem easy, but for folks reading this comment, please know it’s not. A ton of thought and work goes into these videos. The excellent on-the-fly narration minimizes the post-production narration. I certainly appreciate the work that you undertook to make these videos!

Again, I know I’m way, way behind here, but the main comment I want to make will be for future viewers/comment readers of this most excellent vlog so that they may recognize what’s happening if they find themselves doing what’s depicted in this series of videos. A couple episodes ago, when you couldn’t recall the name of the place where you had landed after several 8+ hour days, I said to myself, “They are fatigued.” I watched your post-Orange Beach episodes and saw how you were pushing yourselves day after day. I pretty much knew it was going to catch up with you. And it did. I flew big airplanes (after photojournalism-long story) for three decades with long and varied schedules and, at times, short layovers. I know about fatigue. It’s not being sleepy. It’s a slowing of your mental and physical processes. One has mental lapses and makes seemingly small errors that taken individually may not seem like much, but taken collectively can be a link in a chain that leads to an accident. Add to that poor nutrition, which includes hydration, it can also lead to a medical event, which you found out. OK, off my soap box. My second comment regards Manny’s detection of an “aura” about you two. Anybody with a Golden Retriever onboard has an aura! They only hang around good people!

I’m late to the Andromeda vlog. I’ve watched a select few. This one is EXCELLENT. In another lifetime, I was photojournalist. You told this story well. I’m cruising the loop in sections in a trailerable Ranger Tug R27 (inboard diesel, not the outboard model). A failure of its single engine or in its drive train is certainly a concern. That you had a second engine to keep you going was critical to your success and you handled it well. That you have a Golden Retriever on board tells me all I need to know about you two as a couple.
