THE GOAT 🐐😤👏 No debate after this she’s at the TOP of the list. Creating a subtype puts you in the Bending hall of fame automatically but this also PROVES there’s NEVER been anyone who’s had the level of connection/ understanding she has with earth and there hasn’t been since INCLUDING past avatars. Her seismic sense in LOK could see across the PLANET and she could mentally bend effortlessly. There are some amazingly talented earthbenders in the franchise who have phenomenal skill or unique abilities and could definitely go 1v1 with her Like Bumi, Yun, Zhianzhu, Bolin and Kuvira but at the end of the day she edges them all out due to being strong EVERYWHERE, being able to sense earth/metal even if it’s not touching the ground and her insanely OP seismic sense. Power, speed, precision, adaptability, MULTIPLE sub bending types… oh yeah and this was all done when she was TWELVE! 😳In her prime she’d be SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than in the show and the best ever seen. Can’t WAIT to see her pop off in the Adult Gaang movie being made! 😭🙌

Seeing Toph's seismic sense working overtime as the Guru explains metal is simply refined and purified earth was absolutely metal...pun intended. Such an incredible moment of the series. The word pathik (पथिक) means a traveler or guide in Sanskrit and can also refer to "knowing the way or path". Regarding the hands, the changing hand positions used by Aang while opening the chakras are actual positions used in real life, called mudrās, to open the chakras while meditating. The colors of Aang's visions for each of his chakras mirror the colors traditionally associated with the corresponding chakras, red for the first (lowest), orange for the second (second lowest), yellow for the third (third lowest), through to purple, which is the same order in which they are arranged in the visible spectrum. When Aang leaves the Guru for Katara, that was based off a scene from The Empire Strikes Back when Luke leaves Yoda after seeing a vision of Leia and the others in trouble despite Yoda telling him that this Jedi training must be finished before he leaves. Initially concerned about how the episode would be received, Bryan Konietzko would later learn from friends of his, who worked as professional yoga and meditation instructors, that they used the lessons imparted in the episode with their own students

So the Eastern Air Temple was inspired by Angkor Wat in Cambodia which is a huge temple complex originally built as a Hindu temple during the 12th century but gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the century. When it comes to design in the show, yes it is mentioned in the official The Art of the Animated Series artbook that the creators did vacations and took lots of pictures before working on the seasons. For Book 2, they went to China in early 2005 and besides inspiration from the Forbidden City and Great Wall of China, their tour guide showed them an architectural park which helped big time as it showcased a vast array of Chinese architectural styles from a variety of ethnicities and eras. For Book 3, Konietzko took his own vacation to Iceland, for the simultaneous purposes of fulfilling his dream of visiting the ruggedly beautiful country and capturing the distinctly violent landscapes of the country to use for designing the Fire Nation. Of the thousands of Iceland location photos Konietzko took, three are shown. One shows the Gullfoss waterfall, which became the basis for the waterfall Sokka and Piandao visit. Another is of Viti, a crater lake that visually inspired the look of the pool Team Avatar rest in prior to their first encounter with Combustion Man.
@TheLastLivinGameCube9 ай бұрын
To answer your question at 14:22, the hand gestures that Aang makes in this episode are actual meditation hand positions. The chakras in this episode are based off of the 7 Buddhist chakras in real life, and each hand position that Aang makes corresponds with their respective chakra.

With all her feats ESPECIALLY the ones in Korra there’s nobody that surpasses her 🤷🏻♂️I can’t WAIT for the adult Gaang movie so we can see Toph in her prime wrecking people 😭🙌 I REALLY wish Michaela was still her voice tho NGL 💀

Here's the thing, Toph IS the Greatest Earthbender in the World. Bar none. (That we know of so far.) Bumi is probably the most POWERFUL Earthbender alive, but that's not the same thing at all. As the crowning achievement, the PHD, the defining proof of Toph's self declared title, she BENT METAL! Some context. As I understand it, ever since the invention of metal, an event which occurred in this world hundreds to THOUSANDS of years ago, there has never been a single recorded instance of a Metalbender. Not even in myth and legend. It became a bane to Earthbenders. It was, no, it IS their garlic, their holy water, their silver bullet. You want to beat an Earthbender? Step 1, surround them with metal. Step 2, celebrate. Check out the Earthbender prison from Book 1. Then Toph comes along. This punk kid who has secretly become a Master level Earthbender at what, age 12!? Not only that, but she's blind, and compensates by constantly using an Earthbending technique that to this day we have only seen Badger-Moles (the ORIGINAL Earthbenders may I remind you), her, and her students use. She sees through the Earth itself. Which makes her Master level abilities all the more potent. And she uses it even while asleep?! For that alone she could walk away with the title of Greatest Earthbender of all time. Maybe. Then she BENDS METAL! She takes the Bane of Earthbenders, and turns it into one of their greatest weapons! This is the equivalent of a vampire not only becoming immune to sunlight, but also getting sunlight superpowers! Until the end of Earthbending itself, this will never be forgotten. There will always be at least a few Earthbenders who can turn the bane into their greatest strength. Because a little sheltered blind girl was stubborn, strong, and talented enough to do the impossible. And then taught others to do the same. You bet your bottom dollar she's the Greated Earthbender of All Time.

I still like the theory people came up with for the final chakra that Aang needed to unlock. Yes, he needs to let go of attachment to enter the Avatar State, but the thing is, many Avatars had families and children. The theory is that while you do need to learn to let go to enter the state, you also need to remember your love for your family to return from the avatar state. That’s what people theorize is the key trigger for entering and exiting the Avatar State. Letting go and then remembering your love for others. It honestly makes way too much sense, so it always stuck as a very plausible theory.

My only attempt at a Mentalist/Psychic Reading went only slightly better than Sokka's in the TV show. A friend of mine took me into the place at a fair, and the lady working took one look at me and said, "get out." My friend stayed for a bit and chatted, paid for the reading, and later told me that I was immediately perceived by the mystic as "closed off", and otherwise unreadable. Other personality tests by career counsellors and even some analysis by someone who specialized in hand writing interpretation, determined that I was "wildly contradictory" in displayed aptitude, interests, and personality. One person even complained I broke her test, the first in 30 years to do so! But it isn't all weirdness like that. I took up meditation in grade seven to make me more "Zen" around my annoying siblings, and some of the techniques I learned continue to help today. Such as messing with nurses and doctors in appointments, by radically altering my vital signs.

16:14 yeah I don’t think Guru Pathik did the best job of explaining what he meant. Aang clearly took it as having to let go of Katara forever, but obviously based on what we know of the future, he only has to learn to let her go temporarily, for the duration he’s in the Avatar state. It’s like, let the love flow downstream, and then it’ll swim back upstream like a salmon.

Let's not forget, it's ZUKO she saw, too. This guy had her mother's necklace and used it to lure Aang, he fought her at the North Pole to kidnap Aang, he threw fire at her when she offered to help Iroh with his injury... the guy is clearly hostile towards her 'xD And Iroh is so calm around him. That would give off bad vibes, if you didn't know them XD And Katara does NOT know them on a personal level, other than that brief moment of Iroh calling out Zhao on his recklessness (put mildly) that would suggest Iroh has a moral compass.

Toph is so goated for this moment, also 16:25 I don't know if I agree with that either ngl but if I was religious or spiritual then I would because its basically saying that these earthly things are good but is not the ultimate goal and you can be attached but not too attached or magnetic to earthly things and feelings. Be attached by strings not by magnets I guess. But as a naturalist you wouldn't believe there is anything beyond the physical world nor would spiritual practices do ANY good beyond having some placebo effect so although the advice might not be bad even for a naturalist it just wouldn't be fundamentally true just tentatively based on the person aka case by case overriding what you think is spiritual or human nature when in reality its subjective

The very interesting thing is that metal bending is not really metal bending, it's still basically connecting to the rock elements in the metal. It's not a new for of bending, but rather Toph connecting deeper into the element. That's why is seen how Korra cannot bend platinum, since it is so pure it has no earth in it. Same goes for blood bending. They are not really bending blood, they just connect deep into the water molecules in the blood. I love that their abilities stay pure and have an explanation, rather than a new power that came out of nowhere.

Honestly Michaela, I'd trust you to do better with the Disney theme parks than the complete idiots that are in charge right now. Attendance is way down because of multiple factors. They are making some of the same mistakes that were made in the 80s. As park attendance drops, they raise the price, causing attendance to drop more, so they raise the price more. Accounting logic, or to those of us with common sense, pure stupidity! Iger when he came back as CEO even said that they'd raised prices too much, and what did he do? He raised them more. They are cutting maintenance and janitorial staff, making the parks not as clean. Which would have Walt turning over in his gave, also making more people not want to go. They are modifying rides and things people love in the parks and costumes to be woke... I mean "socially more acceptable". Making people further, not want to go. Also Nickelodeon has worked with Disney in the past.
