Good on you for enjoying the vanlife for a good while before getting around to making a video. If I were in your position I'd probably do the exact same XD Great job on the van, and thanks for explaining these systems in much more detail (and professional terms) than most van lifers do.. Cheers from Europe :-)

Thanks Rianne, yeah i know I just had to immerse myself in it and try not to be so consumed about creating videos for a bit, which was good but there was always something inside me wanting to make them, but guess I just wasn't quite ready haha :) Thanks so much for watching!!!

Yeah I can't see why it wouldn't be, think of people being allowed to washed there car and let things run down the drains/gutters.

Always have this argument in the uk. Just leave the grey tap in a slight open, and it just drips away. No problems

yeah i've never had any problems, only if I am trying to be really stealth and not let anyone know I'm in the van will I lock the valve off

Good vid, you are doing a great job. Do you recommend travelling to Australia for holidays? Is it legal to sleep in a tent?
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jakub! I definitely recommend visiting Austalia, many beautiful places :) You can sleep in a tent in many places, but not around suburbia areas or city areas unless they are dedicated camp grounds. however if you go outback a bit you could camp in a lot of "Un-Official" places for free i would imagine

Sweet setup! Is it feasible to have this tank setup in cold weather conditions or could the water freese over since it's mounted outside?

its fine in cold conditions in australia, if you live in 0 degrees or below i dont imagine it would be feasiable

Hey mate, where did you get your fresh water and grey water tanks from?
@horstszibulski196 жыл бұрын
I just wondered if it`s possible to remodel your toilet to a compost toilet so that you get rid of emptying the cassette toilet? Or wouldn`t it work because of shower splashes? Nice setup with the double check valves, i bet i would forget them while constructong such a system, even my father was a plummer once and i helped him some times as i was a kid... :-) Thx for the vid! :-)
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure if I could remodel it given ive already cut a hole in the side of the van to install the toilet, but it could be possible ;) thanks a lot for watching, well yeah I didn't put one of the check valves in originally and added it in later, its real easy to do. Cheers!

Jaz, was the grey water tank a custom build from Atlas tanks or was it one off their normal price list? If it was custom, do you mind sharing the design so i can get Atlas to make one for me (we have the same van as you, and are copying your tank setup)
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
hey it was a custom. go check out my design on the blog post on my website episode 12 i believe, or episode 7

Is it worth changing the grey to a second clean water tank? Just have your grey wash direct onto the street rather than through an empty tank
@MOXRA6 жыл бұрын
Jason Robertson I’m diligently copying Jaz on almost everything but with the invaluable benefits of seeing how Jaz’s system works - a million thanks for your generosity Jaz in sharing your knowledge and lessons learned - I was also wondering if it’d work to swap the grey water tank for a 20L? and make the fresh water a 150? What do you think Jaz? And if going for a larger fresh water tank is feasible, is one large tank better than two smaller tanks? I was also wondering about whether any consideration needs to be made for static created by the water swishing about during driving?
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could do that too! ;)
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Hey mate thanks for watching. I would advise that my 68L grey water tank is way to big and doesnt need to be that big, 20L would be fine. It would be worth it to use some of that extra space for a 2nd water tank, that would be heaps handy ;) the only thing for me was the practicality of plumbing 2 tanks in together that are on different sides of the van.

Dude you got yourself a serious Tan as a ginger you have to be careful up North and you've lost a bit of weight maybe to much, your going to have to eat a little bit more than your girlfriend. I noticed you wrapped your exhaust...great idea. Keep living the Dream :)
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
thanks mate dont really classify myself as a ginger haha but whatever :D yeah the exhaust wrap works great man i recommend it :) cheers man!
@karlbartelt39396 жыл бұрын
I know your not a fanta pants, but you have a tinge of ginge that means you have to be more careful than most. With the exhaust wrap you'll even get a slight performace improvement. The heat staying in the pipe makes a greater pressure differential between the end of the pipe and the start, of course the other benifit is of course less heat on the floorpan. I pondered the idea of a water heater with small copper pipe spiralled around the exhaust and then wrapped, you wouldn't even need to pump it you could use convertion to drop it back in the tank higher than the drop point.

Enjoying these instructive videos. Did pick up on one potential issue though. Noticed you have something between the metal and the plastic tank. A manufacturer recommended not to have anything like rubber between metal and plastic because it can work lose over time. That's from a comment to the following video (about 14 comments down, the one from Mike, and see Greg's response to that). kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWGYZIOpiN2kerM
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much :)Thats interesting I'll have to keep an eye on that, but the metal uni strut bars are done up pretty bloody tight so for them to loosen would be super unlikely in my mind, but will keep an eye on it just to be sure, thanks!
@cr0ft-2k6 жыл бұрын
Nice setup but I'd be far too paranoid to just take the water in as-is. Lord knows what kind of bacteria and sediment and whatnot is in there. Definitely putting in a dual or triple canister whole-RV filtering system that's between the water intake and the rest of the van. Also, putting protection between the metal strap and the tank was probably a mistake. If that protection comes off, well, then your tank starts rattling around on top of the metal straps. Tank manufacturers generally recommend no such padding, I believe.
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate that would be preferable to have all those filters, but I do have a triple filter system for our drinking water as you can see in S1E12. I have heard that about that rubber from someone else too, I guess if it comes out i'll hear it rattling and just re adjust the nuts on the threaded rod to tighten it back up if that happens ;)
@cr0ft-2k6 жыл бұрын
Aha. Well, that works too, just have to flush the tank a bit more frequently since there will be sediment and stuff gathering there over time.
