Nice video, maybe make one talking and showing the troubles and problems you came across living in the van, like getting clean water, washing clothes, emptying grey water, etc...

Hey there!! I am an electrician here in the US. Watched your build series because I am getting ready to help a friend get their van setup. Huge help all of the information you provided. I will be doing only the electrical systems. What helped most was the wire running you did and your knowledge of electrical systems. Thanks so much!! I am getting into season 2 now and checking out your travel videos. Your van is so well done.

Thank you for this vid … and all the others! You’re helping me make my travel dreams come true. This vid made me look at wattage of the appliances I’m looking to buy for my van. At 14:53 your 1600W rated inverter let you pull 1916W. If I’m not mindful or a visitor puts on multiple AC appliances, will the inverter limit or cut power, or will something else happen, like will individual power point switches trip? Or inverter melt down :I :I :I And will the battery and other electrical bits be safe? Yours, electrical ignoramus. P.S. is it a big deal to get a higher rated inverter? I’ve fallen in love with a 2000W sandwich press!

Informative video. Cheers. Any thoughts on induction hobs and which ones might be best suited for a motorhome?
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Hey I've researched a couple of RV induction cooktops, I cant give a specific recommendation as I don't use one. There is a fairly high current draw on the DC side of your inverter, as inductions require an AC input to operate. So you would want to have a sizable Battery and Solar system if you wanted to run a half decent induction cooktop with atleast 2 hot plates. I would do a lot of research and work out how much you are going to be using them per day and calculate how many Amp Hours you'll use
@Wishwader6 жыл бұрын
Travel With Jaz - thanks. Don't think i've seen any motorhomes with built-in induction hobs. Seen a few using a portable plugin induction hob but none with a household style integrated unit. When looking briefly I realised it might be doable because not all of them require wiring into the house electrics (allowing huge amps) - some just come with a standard plug, which means a 3000w inverter say would be enough to power it. The caveat with the ones with a standard plug is not all the induction plates can receive full power at any one time, they usually reduce the others slightly as you ramp up the power on another, but this is actually perfect for a motorhome and the cap on amperage is exactly what is needed as far as i can see.

Hi Jaz, a question I've been meaning to ask you, have you weighed your van, and if so, how heavy is it? My VW Crafter which is basically a LWV Sprinter has a weight limit of 3.5 tonnes.
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
My van is about 3.5 Tonnes include all the water and everything fully loaded. My sprinter is dual rear wheel base and has a gross weight limit of 4.5 Tonnes

Wow, first time as first commenter... :-D All things that produce heat draw most current...yeah so right! :-P Thx for the vid!
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Congratz! Yes heating elements generally draw the most, but are very steady loads and don't generally fluctuate up and down.

Hey Jay. The Amazon link that you provide us with, is that from the states but in Australia we can't use a 110 volt? Amazon recently restricted us from buying electronic goods from amazon.com. any thoughts about this
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
I checked the link again and it said 240V / 110V, I would contact the seller and confirm that, maybe they have both models and send which one is applicable to the country. there wasn't the Kuvings C7000 Pro available on Australian Amazon which was annoying.
@jsmith62596 жыл бұрын
@@JaznLori thank you I guess we have to wait for Amazon Australia to become much better than it is at the moment to buy products

If you can get a toaster going in your van, can you get an Iron working too?
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Yes sure can, just has to be 1600W or less as my inverter is rated up to 1600w.

Put empty cardboard boxes in the freezer it stops the freezer working so hard to freeze the empty space and reducing ice build up
@JaznLori5 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! so just flat sheets of cardboard?
@mtudor755 жыл бұрын
No mate just empty boxes it should reduce the cubic area it has to freeze
@Otaythechug5 жыл бұрын
The ice build up is because there’s moisture in space which is inevitable in small units and if the compressor doesn’t cycle off and working constantly, you might want to check the differential pressure switch. :) I’m totally binge watching your vid btw! Wish I can have a sprinter van but I’m looking to purchase a ford Econoline. Love you! 💛

I just wanted to know what job you work while living in a van and if your girlfriend has one, great vid 👍
@JaznLori6 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, technically I haven't worked since living in a van (roughly the last 5 - 6 months). I had savings saved up from my previous electrical job (Electrician) but that has dried up and I'm currently living off KZbin (making a small income). Lori has gone back to work for the meantime and I am sorting out my "income" life haha. I just want to be a full time content creator, and that's my full time aim ;)
@Wishwader6 жыл бұрын
Best of luck with building your content empire. If you're ever struggling for content maybe you could help with other people's van conversions - especially with the electrics. Retro fitting solar to as many people's motorhomes would be extremely instructive and no two videos would be the same because of each motothome having its own hurdles. When I was watching boat DIY projects I came across some videos on inspecting the electrics of other people's boats. I probably learned more from those (how not to do it) than I did from watching videos on how to do everything perfectly.
