The tears welling up in this Welsh hero while he sings brings goosebumps to me everytime! Such a passionate singer! You can tell he means every word he sings ❤️🏴🏴

I mean it's not hard to see why. He wrote this in the 80s, when Welsh was dying and Thatcher was ravaging the country. It's optimistic in outlook alright, but it's a desperate and defiant optimism, written during bad times to inspire resilience. I don't think he would have imagined then in his wildest dreams how big this song would get and how much it would come to mean to the people. The passion and enthusiasm with which this is sung today is one hell of a way to prove the lyrics of the song right. Welsh will forever survive, and that's a beautiful thing. I don't speak it, but am planning to learn it as soon as I got fluent in Irish (I live in Belfast, so there is another Celtic language to be saved from Anglo supremacy - but, just like the Welsh, we are still here)

As a monoligual English speaker this is my absolute favourite "foreign language" song! May the Welsh language survive and thrive! This song seems to be the new theme song for those who believe in Welsh independence! God bless all the all the Celtic languages!

Salute from Malaysia. What a song. Lovely to see even the young has caught on and sing this song with passion. What a great revival of the Welch language. Looking forward to the Welch supporters singing their hearts out at the football World Cup - win or lose. What a venue to introduce this song.

As an Australian of Welsh descent it brings so much joy to my heart to see so many young children in the audience acknowledging their heritage.

I'm from the Netherlands and I interviewed someone from Wales. She mentioned Eisteddfod. I looked it up later and came across this. Goosebumps all over...

Wow, I don't even understand Welsh, but he and the entire audience sing with such passion that they convey something beautiful to me that I can't explain in words.

I went to the Eisteddfod yesterday. Everyone was singing together with Dafydd Iwan! Especially when he sang yma o hyd! So great! I'm just a Welsh learner so I can't understand most of his songs. Lots of his fans are young, born after yma o hyd. Bydd yr iaith Gymraeg yn fwy!

I don't understand anything about it but I liked the passion shown by the artist, I watched several different videos, and I also liked the way the people gathered when they sang this song.

The Eisteddfod is generally a celebration of youth abilities away from sport (literature, poetry and song), so there will be lots of pobl bach there. Yma o Hyd
