I'm often amused to people's reaction to OUR reactions when one or both of us doesn't like a song. And a bunch of these comments have been great. This is BCR. You get what you get. If you think you can somehow require us to like a song, you're in the wrong place. You're on the wrong channel. We are not here to fawn over every song we hear like so many reaction channels. You think we don't know the hate will come in the comments? You think we don't know we'll lose subscribers? We're well aware, and, well, it doesn't matter to us. We do this channel because we enjoy learning about bourbon, and we enjoy learning about country music, whether we like individual examples of either or not. We greatly enjoy the community in the comments. And I'm not telling our regulars anything they don't already know. You guys are awesome. The haters? Y'all must be new here. - Keith

I subscribed to this channel very early on. One of the things I appreciate is that you're not pushing for subscribers & likes & selling merchandise. Its more like hanging out with your friends, having a drink & listening to music. An appealing vibe for an old lady who lives alone w her little dog.

I agree! Yes they mention the big three (like, comment, and subscribe), but they don't beg or coerce you to do it! As strange as it is I feel a friendship with them. I know they don't know me and I obviously don't know them personally, but I feel like if I had the opportunity we could get together and be friends in real life! It's awesome to see their friendship with each other. I don't have a ton of friends, but I do have a few so I understand the feeling of knowing you can count on someone! I think there's a Jason Aldean song "Damn Good Friends"

I think when you have been a country fan forever this hits different because every time he mentions a scenario or an actual song it takes you back years to when that song hit you and how it hit you. Give yourselves 40+ years of listening to this music and I think it might hit you differently also.

@Bourbon Country Reacts and that is why I enjoy watching you 2. Real reactions to a genre of music I love. I guess what I meant is, for example, when he said Amarillo by morning, your attachment to that song is months old and from doing this, when I hear it my attachment is 17 year old me on the lakeside with my girlfriend (now wife) it just hits me in a way that it can't hit you, and that's cool too. Great job guys.

Yeah, I don't know why people would get mad at their reaction when they are not country fans anyway. When you get it, you get it. When you don't, you don't. Frankly, I love the song because it proves the point country people are down to earth and love this country. They are real. You don't have to sing about shooting cops or bite off bat heads for your audience. For those of us that hate what is going on in our country, it takes us back to a better time.

The one who said it's a tribute to country music was right, his point was in my opinion is we lost sight of what real country music was sure you could dance to some country music that's fine but when you can't tell the difference between pop music and country music there lies the problem sure we have a couple of hardcore country like James Johnson and Chris Stapleton but country music has lost its roots and that's all that was just a reminder where it came from and you're right it shocks me how loyal iron maiden fans are thank you guys for your reaction

Nice reaction guys. Every song is not for everyone. For some people this song strikes a major cord, because it mentions all those things most other genres skip, for others it sounds like a cliche. For me, it's a triple win.. the lyrics and music are fun and in their own way meaningful, invoking the feelings other songs generate. Brad show cases his voice. Last, but not least, he showcases his guitar skills, though some of its what's being played as he goes through the lyrics, is subtle , I think you'd really have to know all the songs well to catch it... not all though. But everyone's different, I seriously despise John Lennon's 'Imagine'. The music fits the song, but the lyrics are 100% cringe worthy to me. Other people love the song and think it's great.

I really don't understand some of the hate in the comments? Not every song is for everyone and that is the beauty of music. We don't always have to agree. Personally, I appreciate honest reactions and not those who pander to get subs and likes, that's what I like so much about this channel. And like it or not, having an opinion and conviction in your beliefs- Is Country Music!!!!! So just stop. I will say this though, I think part of the reason you guys didn't care for this song is the fact that you aren't country fans, at least not yet ;) As others have explained this was a song going after those who were mocking country fans, it's an F-you song. But I can understand your point of view on it, and honestly, it is not one of my favorites but I understand the purpose and appreciate it for what it is. Please stay true to yourselves, and keep giving honest reactions, that is what I love about you guys. It's like sitting with my buddies, we certainly don't agree on everything.. BTW, if you get the chance, you should reach to, The Band Perry- "Done" ; I think you will appreciate the pipes on Kimberly Perry.

it wasn't cliche, it was taking a stand and saying, these are the kind of great songs country artists put out. The point of the song was to say, country music isn't afraid to tackle the tough stuff, cancer, religion, love, respect, etc, etc. So, would you call out Eric Church for his song "Record Year", just because he references a bunch of good old songs and artists? You guys are missing the whole point! Might I suggest, as a compliment to this tune, check out "Trace Atkins - Songs About Me". (and Eric's - Record Year.) 'Nuff said. 👍🏼✌🏼🇨🇦

The song is about how the simple things that country music fans can relate to are things that people in mainstream music don't/won't sing about. But, "This is country music l, and we do." It's supposed to be cliche because it's a song about what makes country music country music.

I'm loyal to the country artists who are loyal to us. When the artist and industry deviates from what they're supposed to be, just so they can follow trends and broaden their audience, they're no longer loyal to country music fans, and I'm not loyal to them. Modern country has been playing the harlot for a long time now.

I've seen some of the comments and sorry about those, guys. A few are a little harsh. But I will say you do a great job reacting and I look forward to every video you release. You aren't required to love every song you hear. I mean, I know you guy weren't impressed with Home Free, but I love them and that's cool, we all have different taste. There is so much debate on what is and isn't country and SOME (not all) fans can get a little rabid when it comes to defining country. But like everything, in life, music changes over time and sometimes reverts back and then alters again slightly and that's okay, IMO. Sometimes it feels like if you dare say you dislike a certain country singer or even a certain song, others declare that means you aren't country fan. That makes no sense to me, when people suggest you have to be a fan of every artist in a genre. There are singers I love who have certain songs I will skip and there are some singers that I don't love who have one or two songs that I will turn up so loud and sing along. (Usually, I turn music up to conceal from anyone around the sound of my own singing, because it is not a pleasant thing) The example I use for myself, of singers so many adore but I don't, is Miranda Lambert. Not a fan of hers, she has a few decent songs, but I just am not overly impressed by her - for me, she is low on the list of female country singers but that said, she's part of Pistol Annies and I love them. There's something about her singing with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley that makes her music more appealing to me. And yeah, I can admit some of the more modern country singers aren't the greatest, but a lot of the old school country singers missed the mark as well. For example, you may have heard of a guy named John Denver 😜 who has sparked some debate over the years. Forgive the rant, but I am with you guys on this one - I don't like this at all, but I still think Brad Paisley is awesome. Disliking one song doesn't mean you hate the singer. He's amazingly talented and in interviews come across as a genuinely nice guy. I appreciate your honesty in your reactions. Keep up the good work. For the suggestions of the day, I will mention Lorrie Morgan's "Good as I Was to You". I don't think you guys have listened to anything by her yet and she is phenomenal. And Tim McGraw "Live Like You Were Dying". P.S - Dustin, totally relate to your snacking habits. I'm not eating Goldfish but I did finish off the last of the Cheez-It crackers while listening to this, so a shout out to those of us who eat like we are teenagers whose parents have left us on our own for a week and we intend to make the most of it snack wise. 🙂

I agree that it's okay to disagree. I'm a huge Brad Paisley fan and a country and Rock music fan. I was in my 30s when I began to appreciate country, even though my family has deep ties to the music industry..I think a part of this song was meant to be a tribute to those who came before and I think partly it's meant to be a reminder that there's not a lot of people doing those types of songs that put country music on the map anymore There are still some good songs out there but so much of country radio is more pop than country. It's the sound radio execs decided would appeal to younger listeners and thus keep them in business. That's okay too it's just not what I choose to listen to. However I was in college when southern rock became a thing. Country purists hated southern rock but I loved it and still do.. It's my go-to music. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker band, wet Willie, Charlie Daniels and more!!! But my dad, thought they were ruining country music. And on The story goes.....

The listing of things said at the start of the song are things people don't talk about in a song, but country music does is the message and the list of singers up on the screen were those who sang about those very words. It's hard to look at a song about a long list of singers from the past not really knowing much about them and compare them to a few bands you followed growing up. It doesn't have much meaning to you guys because you don't have a long history following country music which is cool you like what you like and you do get credit for at least taking the time to listen vs others who hate country music and won't even give it a fair shake...

Two other Brad Paisley songs to try are "American Saturday Night" and "Welcome to the Future" - both of them do what this one is talking about doing. I do think this song is right about a lot of what it says, because part of what makes country music unique is the way it tells stories, and everyone can identify with one story or another. I have been watching a lot of first time country reactors, and over and over have watched them each have this revelation - that country is different not just for the sound, but for the stories.

I'm totally with you both on this one. You're reactions were exactly like mine when I first heard him perform it on this awards show. I'm a huge country music fan, but I always found this song to be corny as heck. It's a prime example of the many cliched, pandering checklist country songs that were coming out in the 2000's. There were literally dozens of songs coming out during that time that mentioned cancer, farms, tractors, small towns, beer drinking, mama, the troops, etc. with very few of them seeming genuine and coming across more as pandering to the audience instead. This song is like trying to validate all of those songs because "this is country music." Most of the best classic country songs never needed to pander to the country audience, though. Honestly, Brad was at his best during his first three albums, imo. After that he started putting out too many cheesy/corny songs like this, and he became more hit or miss for me. I'm glad y'all already did "He Didn't Have To Be," because that's still one of his very best songs, I believe. "Who Needs Pictures" is another great one, and it was his very first single. Again, hats off to you both for being real and honest!

Keith, I've never seen a couldn't touch your drink and a tangent comment happen on the same song before. The tribute vs. contrived difference is interesting.I dont think the guitar sections are iding the style per say.If its picking n grinning in a rock song or vise versa its the lyrics that determine the style at the time.I did notice that when there is a no go verdict it comes right away with prejudgment.Extra blast cheddar on the goldfish.

Oh, this one.... it’s a clever tribute. The cliches are the point. They built Country’s public standing and we acknowledge that. But Country is so much more. I think this tribute would have been stronger if he sang each song title with the melody, tone, and pitch we associate it with. But it sounds more like he tried to match the words to the music of his song instead. And that just didn’t work for me. Guys, Brad Paisley IS cheesy and cliched. He always has been. Either the lyrics to the song are cheesy and cliched but incredibly executed-Online, Alcohol, Ticks, I’m Gonna Miss Her, etc- or the song is amazing but the music video is cliched and cheesy. Don’t get wrong, I love Brad’s borderline style. But his portfolio isn’t all one note. He showcases his flare and it almost always works to his advantage.

@@BourbonCountryReacts Something I’ve been thinking about suggesting for you two a while now is to view the Ken Burns documentary Country Music. It’s one of the most comprehensive, well researched, and true to subject documentaries I’ve ever seen. And it does this genre of music the honor, respect, and justice it deserves. You will learn about everything that crafted the genre, from events to influences to the cornerstone artists no one knows much about anymore because their names are lost to time. I’d absolutely wait to watch it till you’ve heard at least 3 songs from all the biggest Country giants past and present, as well as heard all the most famous “one-song” artists (the artists with a good career that’s only remembered in pop culture for one song). So maybe it’ll be a few years till you see the documentary. But it’s worth the wait. Obviously, this would be on your own time and not a reaction. And even if you hate documentaries I hope you give it a go in the future. I just wanted to put the documentary on your radar. Don’t go jumping the gun, though. :)
