Merry Christmas. When my goalie first started, I laced the knee pads into the pants so they stay up. Also I really like the Kova Goalie neck guard. It's impact and cut protection without much restriction in movement.

Merry Christmas! The knee pad slippage can be an issue. I have seen the lacing and more commonly taped in place with enough slack to not restrict blood flood.

Great video!! Always fun to talk about gear! One thing I noticed... I mean, I never got anywhere near his level of competition so I won't tell him how to dress... but personally, I feel that because he chooses to tuck in his chesty and also wear his suspenders pretty tight, this forces the chesty way DOWN... Too down in my opinion. Take a look at 8:34 ... That white hexagon on his chesty should be at the height of his sternum... and the curved "collar" part should be much closer to his neck. Because of this, the "shoulders" of his chesty are also lower which grants him less coverage top-net. Also, side note: Only in Canada are minor/junior hockey goaltenders not allowed to wear cat-eye cages... I really wish they would retract this rule. Thanks for the video!

Why is his chesty so low on his body?

Individual preference. Wear your stuff how you feel best. He has seen thousands of OHL shots in the last two years and hasn’t had any injury problems and is ranked as top pick in the NHL draft. So how he is wearing it hasn’t affected safety or performance.

Is it build like that to hang lower or just how he straps it up? Not to familiar with Vaughn c/a. But the one arm trick is legendary.
