Love the shadow technique. It's such an eye-opener especially to the older goalies who think they're perfect and they see how much white there is. The best is when you have them drop into a butterfly and they see exactly why they keep getting scored on through the armpits. So many goalies drop leaving their arms high and then bringing them down after they hit. Great video, Coach! Thanks!

When you now realize Keeks having psychic capability & making a vid on a play that happens during a game b4 it comes out.. 20 sec left, 4-4 tie.. best player comes into the zone, I challenge hard out of the crease to cut any angle shot!.. Guy scores high blocker side! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 No tie, no OT, no shoot out 🤦‍♂️ Lesson learned! Thx Coach! 👍👍

Do you recommend having the gloves in different positions based on your depth? Seemed like in a few of the demonstrations, the glove coverage would end up above or outside the box as the goalie gained depth from the goal line.
@FutureProGoaltending
@FutureProGoaltending 3 жыл бұрын
Of course. Your gloves lower the closer than man gets dependent on your depth…. This is why guys really attack 16” to the blocker/ trapper as they “know” the gloves are high.

Based upon the demos, would you suggest that as you advance out off the goal line the glove should come a little lower to not cover space outside the frame, or just keep your stance your stance? Also, this is a great demo for the justification to integrate the overlap on shots in the pie into one's game, something I've been trying to work on.
@FutureProGoaltending
@FutureProGoaltending 3 жыл бұрын
Yes your goal is to cover that box as comfortably as possible without hindering mobility.

@@FutureProGoaltending my old ass hips don't get too wide these days. So I compensate (don't we all) with a bigger challenge. In the pie I'm usually deeper than for shots in home plate.

@@FutureProGoaltending yeah found that to be illuminating. See what I did there?! But yeah weird. Now if I could just figure out why I always get sniped by right handed shots long side low blocker below the dot I might solve a life mystery. 😂

What a great visualization this is. Can understand how size can be an advantage here. Also a little sad as I suspect in another 5 -7 years the shortest goalie in the nhl will be 6 foot 6. They need to do something with the gear rules to even the playing field or it’s really going to discourage a lot of upcoming goalies. Tim Thomas was a smaller goalie but it seemed like he had oversized pants and chest protectors and that nothing could get through him. 🤷‍♂️
@FutureProGoaltending
@FutureProGoaltending 3 жыл бұрын
Size selection bias unfortunately is here to stay…at the NHL level but for 99.9999 % who don’t play near that level it doesn’t matter. Just play the best you can with the tools you got!

Are you speaking of VH or RVH?
@FutureProGoaltending
@FutureProGoaltending 3 жыл бұрын
I have frequently indicated the ONLY time for VH and RVH is when the man is threatening the net and IS WITHIN a stick length… so this video just provides video support to that. You note on the poor angle the net is only 5 square feet or net even without the goalie. So RVH on a gapped puck is wrong and why I started the #rvhfail😎
