What’s the port area and length for 2 sundown x12 v2 D4’s. Well I know one is 40 square inches of port area. But what is it for two? And what would the length need to be for two also. 5 cubic feet would be the least and 6 cubic feet the most. Suggested length for those sizes would help a lot. My port right now in 5 cubic feet is a 5”x8” by 12” long right in the center of the box and it sounds good but for the money I spent for them I would feel better if I knew 100% that the port is the way it’s supposed to be and sound great. Hey man, love your videos and I love sundown subs! I just bought two U-12s and I bought a rp 4500 and I have the subs wired to one ohm and I’m wondering if that’s wayyy to much wattage? I have them tuned with the smd dd1+ and they don’t seem to be hitting as hard as my 2 Sa-12s on the rp 2000 wired to one ohm which doesn’t make any sense. The box that I used for the sa-12s is the same box I put my new U-12s in and it’s 1.8 ft^3 per chamber before displacement which I know it’s too small. I’m working on getting a new box but I’m wondering if you think that could be why they aren’t hitting that hard or maybe I’m overpowering them? I can’t seem to figure out what’s going on. Oh yeah, I’m using sky high 12 gauge speaker wire one the subs which I also feel may be too small

@RockfordF150Bass6 жыл бұрын
I have a quick question... why does it seem that the majority of the blown/recones that I see in town and just on KZbin/forums are sundowns? I was looking to buy 2 X12S for my 4th but the more I read and see its mainly sundowns, no offense I love sundown and any sub that can rock. Maybe its user error putting to much power then recommended (I know they are underrated) but they pound like a mofo. Help me out that way it will help in my future build, I'm currently running a T2 16inch (18) Rockford and it slams with great electrical. But they are very pricey compared to sundown that sound amazing and at half the cost.
@UnofficialAudio6 жыл бұрын
I'd say you're looking for a conspiracy that isn't there. The better question would be why do you only take notice to the blown sundown subs? I'm in many facebook groups myself, as well as several other guys here at the shop and we see subs from ALL manufacturers getting blown in those groups. It's not just sundown and there's definitely not some unproportional number of sundown subs getting blown. Secondly, I don't see any issue in any of these groups of guy's sundown subs just blowing randomly for no reason. Soooo many users run their equipment well out of specs with too much power, too large of an enclosure, etc so to see some subs blow shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Especially if we're talking burnt voice coils. We've tested and proved many times over that sundown subs will easily handle their rated power. If someone is burning voice coils it is from sheer abuse or negligence. Here in this very test we burped way more power than anyone should ever put to one of these subs and it still works. There will be a longer 5min torture test video coming later as well.
@RockfordF150Bass6 жыл бұрын
unofficial like I was saying I love the way sundown sounds from the deep lows to the higher end frequencies, they kick ass, a few of my buds run them and sound amazing. I was just doing a little research before I do the switch, I mean you get one hell of a sub for half the price of what I paid for mine. But just being honest I've seen people reconing them a lot but I kind of figured it could be like you said people overpowering them, not the correct box etc. (Human error) Thank you sir for the info.👍

@UnofficialAudio6 жыл бұрын
Make sure you're checking the subwoofer correctly. I have an entire video talking about it. The impedance doesn't stay constant if the subwoofer is moving. Your dmm could also have resistance in the leads or a dead battery. I cover all that in the video.
@rowboyto1566 жыл бұрын
i watched the video and copied everything you covered. we tested it in my room, i closed the window and told him to hold his breath so the sub doesnt move while testing. i bought a new dmm since the previous one gave a resistance of 3 ohms when i had the leads touch each other. the new one is 0 ohms when the leads touch so i was assuming my readings would be lower. i just pulled the battery off the new dmm and put it in the old one but im still getting a reading of 3.3-3.5 ohms

Higher frequency simply means more cycles per second.....meaning that more air is moved every second past the coil to help cool it. Basicly stating that at 30 hz that thing couldnt take a 20 second tone over its 750 mark.

It's impressive that it can handle it sure! But pushing like 18 times the rated power into it only to get 6db's is just stupid! You can get there by simply taking 2woofers at 1500watts LoL. From 1500 watts up on 1 sub is just stupid because for VERY little more SPL you need THOUSANDS of watts more.

Your dumbass actually said “only 6db’s”. 😂 You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

I guess I don't see any reason for this test! Who goes around burping music? 🤦♂️ Play the damn thing to some music, like what 99% of the consumers will be doing to them! For fucks sake, will the next test be, how long can you submerge a subwoofer in the water? Perhaps, take this wasted time & put it towards making a sub that's not ugly as fukkk! Yes, quality is more important, but looking at SA subs is painful! They look cheap & need a face-lift! On another note, excellent job making a solid subwoofer, it is appreciated. ✌️

Yeah but it's made in China. Lol

PLAY A WHOLE SONG WITH TRUE BASS AN LETS SEE IF THAT WOOFER CAN TAKE 13K WATTS WICH I KNOW IT WONT. WE PLAY MUSIC WITH BASS SO THATS HOW THE SUB SHOULD BE TESTED. THIS IS A GIMIC TO UPSALE WICH IS BS TO ME...SORRY BUT A WHOLE BASS SONG WILL BLOW THAT POS.

This is a total gimic, duhhhhh! Not hiding anything or making this out to be something its not. This is spl burp testing and we make that clear in the video. Its cool if you don't like it but no need to come off like a pissy hater. We also do long term 5 minute torture tests as well. There's already one here on the channel with the 500w E-12". Subscribe and stay tuned for one of the SA-12" coming soon.
