It was named the Sniper Box due to the artwork my daughter did on the box. It is my daily box with plenty of videos on it playing downwards of 20Hz and burping in the mid 50hz range. I compete with it in multiple classes including musical average classes, burps and port scores as well. It has took me 2 years to perfect this design. It is a series tuned 6th order with quick change baffles, I also run a single 6.5" sub as well.

Daniel Harrell really well. I’m using a cabinet sized to fit then both to ensure full maximization of the subs and sound. It’s run by Alphard sub amp running +2000watts in 1ohm. They pack one hell of a punch like fuck me hard punch. Way better than anything I’ve had. But wish I had space for dual 12s or 15s.

Awesome! I personally love to see Companies have the balls to test and push there subs to there limits and take the time to video it for everyone to see.. This video should shut alot of people up as to what 8spl subs are capable of these days.. I’m currently running a CT Sounds Meso 8 on almost twice the rated power at 1500rms and its taking it without even getting warm.. This vid has got me wanting this X8 Version 3 sub now.. The power being driven into these Sundowns is crazy huge. The thing that struck me is that you guys don't seem to care about the music, just the test tone! Kinda like guys who talk about torque in a car rather than how usable it is in the final product.

Sundown is for sure the most underrated brand ever hands down they are impressive out of the box of after 5 mins break in time and the power they can handle. Wow I respect that company for sure , they are good at what they do . My first sundown sub was an sa8 And at one point when I got bored I put a T2500bdcp at 4 0hm over 1500 watt

I just bought a new x8 v4. I have a Rockville db16 amp that should push around 1000 W RMS clean at 4 ohms and I was worried that may be a little too much amp for it but now I’m thinking it will be just fine.

LOL I choose not to use a drill for removing the bolts. No need in taking the risk of cross threading or damaging threads when removing the side of the box and baffle. It's not NASCAR we aint trying to see who can do the fastest sub change lol I rather remove and install the bolts by hand so I can feel if there is an issue with one of them.

I know this is an old post but I have a Cadillac ATS with a 12 W7 in a ported box I’m trying to find a subwoofer small enough with a ported box so I can fit my surfboard in the trunk and I’m looking at 8 inch maybe 10 inch but will this sub sound good with rock rap music ? I’m using a Jl slash 1000 V2/amp. What size ported box is best for this subwoofer ?

Not a fan of bandpass enclosures due to the peaky nature of them but, this bandpass box looks pretty nice though. I prefer sealed, IB, and DBRs the best.

If I had only heard about this second-hand, I’d doubt it was true. I know that it’s in a special box, designed to maximise that burp. Doubt it could ever get same score on music. Even so, the fact that an 8” sub can produce so much sound pressure is insane. Not surprise it was toast by the end or the rest. It was a test to destruction. Regardless, I’d wager that no other 8” driver can get close to the same level of sound pressure.

I bet you could have pumped more into it if the motor were actively cooled. Not sure why active cooling for subs isn't a "thing" yet. Excessive heat is a big killer of electronics. I would consider heat dissipation at the same level as proper grounding.

Hey Sundown... I got a Question for y'all. Do you all take trade ins by chance?.. reason I'm asking is is because I need the space in my car but I don't wanna lose my output to much. I got two Sundown Sav3 8"s one is only a few months old I got from Apex at y'all's North Carolina wearhouse which is where I live btw lol. Anyway I'm looking for a single Sub that can do very well on its own. Not nothing big so 10" or 8" preferably a X 10" like a older V2. I'd be willing to trade both the SAv3 8"s for one X10.

Back in the day there was a lead engineer for Orion and he sent me a box design that was similar. I found it odd that it was a 4th order but the sealed side was small and the ported side was rather large. I found that the small side created outstanding power handling and the larger ported side evened out the narrow sound that a small enclosure would generally do used standalone. The box I built was extremely SPL efficient within the tuning of the second enclosure compounded by the suspension loading mg of the sealed side. It’s neat to see a similar design here with the same outstanding performance. Mine consisted of two 10” subs at the time. We didn’t have the large aero style ports so we used large slot ports. That box still amazes me to this day though I don’t see many utilizing the design. If I recall the sealed side was very small; 12x12x4.5 for a 10” and the ported side was 12x12x16... I maybe wrong since it’s been a very long time. Everyone laughed at me when they saw the design saying I had it backwards. But then they sat in the vehicle and it changed their minds really quickly. Very cool box you have there. I would never doubt that you are getting the numbers you are with that design on a single 8”.

Correction: the 12x12x4.5 was for each of the subs on the sealed side but I doubled them up and made one box with a divider.

I would imagine it’s sealed for power handling and to prevent over excursion? If that cylinder is open back... wow that sub is amazing... well it’s amazing anyhow taking that much power nonetheless.
