SA National Drag Challenge - Round 4 - Killarney Raceway, Western Cape, South Africa

Killarney Raceway in Western Cape Province hosted round 4, the finals, of SA National Drag Challenge on the 11th of November 2023. This was one of the biggest drag event of 2023 with 91 entries, battling it out in elimination style bracket racing untill there is only 1 driver per class left.

I do not disagree with u, however the run I was specifically talking about was the green mazda bakkie against the N/A civic. The driver if the civic is generally a very good driver and knows the drill. So he was having issues. Thing is, giving him do many chances at the risk of another competitors expensive equipment is not fair. In the states they would have given the light immediately for bakkie to leave. They are especially vigilant of burn downs on the line where auto transmissions are involved.

Don't take this the wrong way bru, your videos a fire, but this bs shenanigans giving a guy 68 chances to stage and fiddly faf bullshit on the line is half the reason SA drag racing isn't improving professionally. Drag racing isn't just who has the biggest wallet and does the biggest burnout. If your shit isn't dialed and u cant stage your trash you LOSE!! Finished. That's how it should be. That poor guy in the green rotary bakkie had a cooked trans by the time he was allowed to run. And that's not small money. People who officiate this stuff must wake up now. It's not small money to rebuild a TH400. They need to educate themselves now as much as the guys who have spent money and built good cars. Otherwise stay home and make vetkoek with ouma.

Spectators has the most to say because they don't know the behind the scenes. False red-lights are out of the racers control. Each racer deserves a chance to at least stage and build there boost up. Not everyone uses baby Ar50 turbos that spools in micro seconds. That 1400 bakkie was on launch control boost loaded when that rotary bakkie was creeping to the front. So who's fault was it? I agree there was some unfair races but unfair red lights too. Perhaps stricter rules need to be put in place meaning you have a certain amount of seconds to stages otherwise the light goes green then haaties

Actually it'd really not that serious. We not so impatient down here than the rest of you guys. We really just want to see proper racing. I get your point on the money side of things but for fuck sakes it'd just racing. We want to see the cars go head to head as best possible, especially considering this format where similar cars are lined up against each other.

I hear you, but he should also have anticipated that Shaun was having problems and backed off the 2 step instead of sitting on the 2 step. Same with the blue bakkie & green rotary, the blue bakkie went onto 2 step before the rotary had even lit the first stage bulbs. The drivers need to pay better attention to their surroundings aswell
