Saab 9-3 Antenna & Trunk Prop Replacement

Replacing the radio antenna and hatch door trunk prop gas struts on an 2006 Saab 9-3 SportCombi. The note that gas struts are different for the sport sedan version, and the radio antenna have several variants.

Radio Antenna:
OEM (Correct connector): 12756410
-- I believe this has been superseded by #12762120

I also have a black 2006 9-3 SportCombi and this is just what I needed. The hatch totally failed a few months ago.

I have a 2008 Combi 2.0T wagon and I replaced the hatch shocks on both sides. This video is really instructive, but I would add that I had to raise the hatch as far as I could be be able to push the shock on. I put the front end of the shock on first, followed by the back end. Propping up the hatch with a recycling container really helps too!

Great information. I just replaced mine shock. I have 2010 93 SC. I have regular radio and no On Star. My dummy antenna's seal is broken long time ago, and I don't find any water sign inside. It is just eyesore to look at.

I have 2010 Combi 2.0T. I thought I have the dummy antenna. There are window antenna on the side. Thanks for the video to replace the shock. Mine just went out recently.

Thanks for the video, I have a 2010 that I need to replace the tailgate shocks on so this has been really helpful. Do you know which side of the tailgate hinges the wiring loom enters the tailgate? And also, any idea how to remove the plastic cover on the hinges? I want to add a reversing camera and would like to hide the wires properly. Thanks!

@@koendb5456 I actually checked the fire and it was fine. The issue was a bad switch. I ordered a new one. Swapped internals and it worked!

My service guy at Saab repair told me that this is not radio antenna, it is for GPS. It it true?

There are several variations of an almost identical antenna with various feature comhinations of GPS navigation, On-Star cellular, european cellular, XM satellite radio, and regular AM/FM radio. There is a whole separate set of these combinations for the convertible too.

To my knowledge the shark fin antenna is for GPS and cellular (that's why there are 2 leads). AM/FM antenna is located at the boot side window.
