Thanks I appreciate the video. After installing my new tank I was still getting the low coolant message. So I cleaned the plug with electrical cleaner and used a Q-tip to take out any debris and that solved it.

Thanks for posting this, and yes it is the best walk through of dealing with the expansion tank. I've been chasing a coolant issue for almost a year now, replaced thermostat, water pump, expansion tank and cap 3 times, and have been running UV dye in it... and still can't figure out why it keeps overheating and losing coolant.

Nice work, given how F-ing hard it is to get the hose back on AND clip it, you managed to film it. The right side metal bracket the reservoir snaps into took a chunk out of my forearm, I thought there was tow in my future at one point.

I’m having trouble removing the clip that holds the lower back hose, I can’t seem to find that rigged part of the clip where you insert you pick

What is that extra tube on the back of the coolant bottle? It seems to lead no where?

@@SolvingSaab does it connect to somewhere or just hangs freely? I wonder if that's where my "leak" is coming from. Got a new bottle to install and when I saw that hose I was like....nooo way..

@@blakcard just hangs freely. Don’t fill your coolant unless the light actually comes on. Saabs tend to look low on coolant due to the design of the reservoir but aren’t really. Then when it gets up to temp the coolant expands and goes right out the back and burns off the exhaust.

@@SolvingSaab thanks very much. My light comes on a lot.. Check it when it's cool and the level is low. Plus it sucks to be at a light and see smoke coming from a) a leak or b) run off...it doesn't run hot. Just the burn off the exhaust every now and again

@@blakcard if you have another reservoir swap and see if the problem stops. You could have a crack in it or something.

I have an 2008 93 areo with the 2.8, im about to mess around with the thermostat, they say the housing is on the side, and ill have to take off the battery box and some of the turbo, is this true?

Why replace?.. where did you find he temp sensors did not find them where cool to see the inside

There is no temp sensor in the unit that I am aware of. I replaced the reservoir because the proximity sensor float was stuck/broken.

what about the plastic o-ring on the bottom hose? Any ideas of this should be replaced or can the old one be re-used? I tried looking for a replacement and they are all soft o-rings, the old is hard plastic ring I am wondering if it became "Plastic" due to time and heat? any thoughts?

Mine is currently leaking coolant so bad that it's a constant stream. I've checked the heater hose that looks like a y and the leaked isn't from there but it's coming from the transmission area under the driver side. Car is stick shift. I don't know what to order I feel like the tank is fine it doesn't appear to be leaking from the front and it's such a bad leak literally pissing. I'm wondering if it's the thermostat housing or something rather but it's so far away from it I have my doubts. Do you know any other spot the coolant could be leaking from? Water pump done not that long ago and it sprays coolant when I give it gas.

If it is something that bad I would get it checked at a shop. I’m sorry to hear that is happening. Have you located the leak?

Super vid!!! I have a new tank installed and am having a leak. Just did oil change and I coulda bunch by the lower pulley passenger side. I'm guessing water pump? Thoughts

Sounds about right. Do you have an aftermarket do88 radiator? Because your pressure bolt could be loose, that is what just happened to me.

@@chrisbartkowicz2052 if you don’t have an aftermarket radiator then you don’t have one. There is a pressure relief screw on the top of the radiator for when you are draining it. In your case it is probably the water pump.

Yes it’s on Amazon for about 12.99. The reservoir I cut up was already broken. I wanted to see what it looked like inside.

Can't seem to find this part anywhere. Saab part Saab Engine Coolant Level Sensor - Genuine Saab 13271444. However it says it's for 9-5 V6. Mine 06 9-3 V6 turbo

Any chance you’d know where to buy and extra radiator clip (the wire clip)?.. Mine shot into the abyss and the VW substitute clip (32mm) won’t fit

This will work on any model 9-3 with the v6. Any 9-3 aero. This particular model was 2008 and 2009 9-3 aero xwd.
