You can't have ''sport mode'' on while driving manually, sadly. Sport is only for automatic and it makes the car shift slower so you get more effect and higher number of revolutions. Needless to say i prefer Sport on automatic always. It's a beast car.

but clearly its in drive, the little numbers that pop up to show you what gear you are in aren't there, also the gauge cluster indicates that it's in regular auto mode, trust me i have owned several 9-5s i know the ins and the outs

This is fast, but the manual transmission aeros are even quicker. I test drove a 5-speed manual aero the other day and they are indeed extremely quick once they hit boost in second gear. You better make sure your headrest is adjusted when that turbo kicks in.

It's an Aero. Aero's dont have a ''sport mode'', they're always in sport mode no matter what you do. That's the whole reason it's called an Aero.

If you ever get the chance again, you should try to do a couple pulls with the 5spd aero. Those were pretty noticeably quicker forsure. I had a 1999 9⁵ aero wagon 5spd and a 2001 9⁵ aero sedan auto and the wagon was almost half a second quicker to 60, but where it really mattered was high 2nd gear - 4th or roughly 65mph - 120mph and all in between. Once boost was built that thing would rip on the highway. Very GT feeling. I appreciate how turbo 4s are today, where boost is almost immediate due to twin scroll turbos being used, and in a lot of cases these smaller turbos are even quicker than the Saabs were, even having less hp and torque. But not on the highway haha I loved where the boost peaks on the 2.0T was kinda the same scenario in the Saab family itself, the smaller 2.3t felt quicker off the line but once you got going the 2.0T would gap pretty fast. With the auto in the sedan, it was still quick, and the highway pulls were still powerful forsure, but you could feel the limitation of the auto. Was cool having drive modes in a car from back then tho. Man I miss those cars but esp the manual aero wagon. Those things are pretty rare and I was none the wiser. Sold it about 8 years ago 😭

I have an 04 9-5 Arc Wagon. Sport mode is better for these kind of moves. It sharpens throttle response much better, which manual mode doesn't do sadly.

I own the 2004 saab 9-5 aro and I do nothing but spin tires in sport mode lol its pointless and I'm running michalens. at a little past half throttle too I find myself going 0 to 60 in about 2.4 anything past that slows it down till you get out of 3rd

Hey I have a 2003 Saab 9-5 with the 5 speed Auto I was wondering if this is normal when I am in 3rd gear RPMs go up for a second then go down at low speeds so say if I'm in third gear at about 30 and gun it in manual mode the RPM to jump up a little bit and then go down but the speedometer is always going up it's on my channel it does it in drive to accept it holds the gears longer and drive so it does it around 65/70 it's on my channel could you please look and comment I need help maybe I'm stupid in this is normal it's done it since I got the car I don't think it is slipping I just think it's what the five speed does but I need another opinion it is driving me nuts thanks

I am not sure if mine does the same,never checked it. But what i know it only locks the torque converter in 4th and 5th so it is actually slipping from 1-3rd gear.

This can't be right my old Saab 900 2.0i does it faster and it's 20+ years old now. Tho to be fare the 900 is a much better engine and i suspect it is very well serviced.
