Great video, I will be picking up a 01 9-5 tomorrow so I can do a clutch and slave replacement and keep these beautiful Swedish cars on the roads in America.

Have watched both videos relating to gearbox/clutch removal and found them very helpful as the clutch on my 1999 Saab 9-5 has just failed. I’m not in the habit of putting my cars into garages as I prefer to carry out the work myself and as you mention, you can catch a lot of other small related jobs whilst carrying out the main task (i.e rust removal, painting, bolts lubrication etc). As I plan to carry out this job myself, I’ll follow your lead and order subframe bushing, my 9-5 is 22 years old so they’re bound to be shot at. Thanks very much for the videos, I found them really really helpful.

thanks Jonas!! my buddy and I never done a clutch on a SAAB before and we managed to get the clutch and subframe bushings done on my ‘01 9-5 Aero done in one (long) day a couple weekends ago! wouldn’t have been able to do it without your video!!

Great video, and I love it. Thank you emphasizing how to refit gearbox back alone or with assistants, how to bleed. Very valuable instructions. It look so easy but it is challenging every time. You certainly have done this many time. Cool stuff, Jonas. Good breakdown of work. Tack så mycket igen.

Awesome video. Especially liked your post install commentary. We did the same job on a 9-3. Looks very similar. Machine shop said they could not face off a dual mass flywheel though. Our job went easy on the install though. Must've been lucky. Put guiding pins on the bottom and didn't have to turn the crank. I'm sure there was some violence applied at one time or another none-the-less. Thanks again, enjoying this series of videos quite a bit. Getting inspired to do some mods as I've given the 9-3 to my son and now have a '06 9-5.

Well done. Shame you could not have lightened that flywheel- you can take a lot off it and makes the engine rev more freely- but yeah, not easy at this time I know....... good job 👍🏻 and congrats on your 5k subscribers. You deserve it.

Another fine video from you. Thanks for the hints. If the engine were out of the chasis would you join the E/T before or after you install the engine? Your background pictures show painted aluminum. Much better than trying to po;ish the bare metal. Did you use Silver color and was it hi temp? What about the Casis parts?

We are at the part of gearbox installation. I was thinking that removing the intermediate driveshaft would make it much easier. Now I see that is what you did. However, when I was checking it out on the car, it looks like the alternator is on the same bracket as the bearing for the intermediate drive shaft. Is that a problem?
@JonasKakarikas Жыл бұрын
Dont remember exactly, think its still hold up by the upper mount

Is the gearbox reinforced in some way, like stronger gears? Or is it just the quaife differential added to it? :)

Hey - awesome and very helpful video. Just changed my 9-5 clutch using some of your tips and I cannot get the pipe back onto the slave cylinder pipe nipple on top of the gearbox. I just cannot get the circlip to go back into the aluminium boss. Everything looks seated correctly - the plastic collar clipped into the gearbox with the notch located, and the boss located into the collar, but the circlip won't go in. Is there a trick to getting this correct?!
@JonasKakarikas3 жыл бұрын
Nice 👍 should just be to push it down and insert The circlip. Should just slide in without any problem, then something is not lined up correctly
@echazfraz3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the really quick reply - I guess something is not lined up correctly then - I will try again and post back here to let others know how it worked.
@echazfraz3 жыл бұрын
So I opened the inspection hatch and pressed up on the pipe with my hand, then down on the boss, and the slots lined up and I got the clip in - thanks for the encouragement.
