As with everything Saab the job seems simple enough and 3 hours later the job gets done but rarely walk away without scraped arms and lots of cursed words yelled. Done both those jobs. The water pump is a lot of fun too. Keep up the good work.

Couldn't agree more with Troy Visser. When I estimate the time needed for doing whatever job (and I make conservative estimates) it often takes double the time, taken that all nuts, bolts and clamps that need to be loosened and tightened again don't put up a struggle. Whenever there are three or more of these fasteners involved one will completely mess up your time scheme.

Hope you got an OEM Saab valve, went the cheap way with a third party piece from eeruoparts last year and it failed again after like 3 weeks

Thank you. Helpful, but it would have been much more helpful if you had shown the "little bracket back there" that holds the valve in place. Everything else was pretty obvious. Also, you might mention on earlier 9-5's that electrical connector is horizontal, not vertical like yours.

Thanks. I’m not an expert on the 9-5’s so I’m not nuanced enough to know those little differences. Given the location of this part, it’s about impossible to get a camera back there to show that stuff

At 1 minute in you remove a cover to what? there a vacuum lines attached underneath and 1 of mine is not connected due to a broken nipple what is called as i dont think i can just replace the nipple probably have to replace the whole unit TIA

Should have just eliminated that valve. They always fail. There are euro spec hoses you can buy that go straight to heater core eliminating that valve. Old 9-3 and 9000 hoses can also work

Having coolant constantly circulating through the heater core doesn’t sound to me like a great idea for a car in Arizona.
