I show how to remove the glass easily, while replacing the broken window rollers & the rubber window guide that always falls down. This fallen guide might be causing a noise in your door while driving even if the window still works. I give some tips and tricks and what to look out for while you encounter this job!

Great video Danny! Yes, I have had to replace all the rollers on both front doors on my 2002 and 2003 9-5's. The worst part is removing the fragile plastic trim that runs above the door frame. It is ridiculously fragile. Thanks Danny. Have a good weekend.

Every 6 months my driver side breaks. For the longest time I just left the whole door interior panel off to fix as I go. Sometimes glueing the rubber on the locking side of of the door makes your situation worse because it adds more friction to the window putting more stress on the roller. So it’s just a problem you’ll have to live with like many other Saab stories.

This deff a common Saab problem. Might have something you haven’t found causing pre mature breakage.. something out of alignment. Deff need to lube up rubber tracks and wheels.. stinks to have it not working tho

Mercedes could learn something from Saab. You can not replace any parts of the regulator. You have to replace the whole thing and they are riveted in. I've had to replace three of them and one of those is broken again. They use cables and plastic pulleys. I've had the replacement for it for at least six months and have not wanted to do it. I have the window propped up with a piece of wood with nails in it to hook the bottom of the window track. It's the left rear one, so I don't even care anymore. 😅 On my 85 300d, they were bolted in, so they were easy. I have arthritis in my hands, so I have a hard time with the hand riveter.

That is tough also it is very annoying when they rivet things together. Was working on a Rolls-Royce 1970 ish and it was a chain and the chain rusted… had to get a used one from England and it was wrong so had to wait and get another one slightly rusty and it was also slightly rusty….

@Retiq The window regulator had a chain? That's bizarre. British cars are pretty weird, though. I knew a few people when I lived in San Diego that had collections of roles royces and some of those were pretty weird. One guy had a 1928 that was built here in the US. I think they made them here in 28 and 29. It was built like a truck. Unsyncronised transmission and a straight 8 cylinder motor. Rode like a truck too. 😆

Some aftermarket replacement parts are aluminum where OEM was plastic. Saab hvac blend door lever arm for example, window roller regulators as well. I'd presume a third party has the same for Merc. Or even a private 3D Printer with a more robust modern polymer may be the most cost effective fix. Best of luck.

Also (maybe not cheap, but) I'm certain that hardware/tractor supply type stores have a compressed air powered rivet gun. However, this may invite it's own problem of maneuvering into the required position... Regardless, best of luck in all future endeavors!

The tx is a great car quick comfortable and awd and sounded good a great daily. The n900 is really quick and a lil rough on the edges but which makes it fun. So as for a daily the tx wins

Just replaced both on the driver's side of a 2008 95 for a customer. Tested it at least 30 times and everything was fine. Customer called today and said he heard a bang when he put the window down and his window is cock-eyed again. If the roller broke again, then something else must be wrong.

Maybe a bad part? I haven’t run into that issue you stated. I forgot which car it was the track could move or unbolt and would need to be bent or tightened back up. Otherwise I think I covered every issue I can remember with these. I may have missed some that I don’t know about. Make sure the arms don’t hit the metal retaining clip on the rollers no burs on the ball where roller goes… idk… if I can think of something else I’ll comment it….sorry ur having issues with it

@@Retiq Ok, I have the car here now. What is happening is that the clips on green parts that snap onto the ball joints are rotating and pulling the clips out. Is there a specific way the green parts should be facing when they turn?
@Retiq
@Retiq Жыл бұрын
@@16Tooth OK well just make sure they cannot hit the arms and also make sure it’s seated all the way on the pivot ball on regulator arm. It’s a hard snap to lock the green rollers on then make sure the black clip is slid on all the way. I think it(ball into green roller) was just barely in and clip didn’t fall out but it wasn’t locked in
@16Tooth

@@Retiq Are the green parts supposed to rotate, or are they supposed to stay stationary and just slide? What is happening is that they are rotating and the clips are being pulled out by the track that are glued to the window.
@Retiq
@Retiq Жыл бұрын
@@16Tooth yeah rotating is okay id imagine it’s on a ball and the part the green roller is round and goes into the track, if they wanted it not to roll they make then have sides and fit one way in the track on window… I feel it’s hard to pull the black clips out of the green when the ball is clipped all the way into the roller. I usually leave the clip on and pop the ball into the roller sometimes the black clip will push out when doing so… I don’t think anything should really catch the roller or clip. Make sure roller slides easy in track and nothing is bent
