Hi! If you are looking for informative videos for your SAAB Convertible, and if you are on Facebook... You are very wellcome to enjoy to my Facebook convertible blog. The name is "Terje's SAAB Convertible blog. I have made several how-to videos you can find there, and at my KZbin canal. One of them is the one Lee have added to the description to this video.

Went to a local pneumatic and hydraulic shop and they GAVE me two steel reinforced hoses. That came in handy as when I put the seat back I heard the brittle sheath crack in a different place than the repair. Whew , that was a relief as it still worked flawlessly when I operated it. Thanks to Lee and Terje for the valuable info.

Your seats look beautiful!! Wow!!! I have a 1991 Saab convertible that I would like to get these seats for. Did you have any trouble getting the front/back seats out? Do you know if there is a video on that?
@LeeKelso
@LeeKelso 3 жыл бұрын
Seat removal is pretty simple. Four bolts in the front seat tracks hold them in place. The lower rear seat pops up with a little effort, held in place by a friction style clip in late models but is bolted at the front in the older cars. The rear seat has to be unbolted, but nothing scary. It's been several thousand miles since this video and the seats are just as comfortable.

No idea. I traded my 96 Jaguar XJ6 for the 92 900s last August. I've been more involved in making it a ready driver. On the other hand, I'm historically a British car guy, this is new territory for me. When you're in the 'Burgh, let's try for a photo op! Mine is a driver, far from pristine, and usually dirty - but, very solid!

Lee Kelso there's a ton to see - art, history, culture, even food... If you like the Warhol, the Mattress Factory Museum might have an interesting collection while you're here. I'm a tired dad of 2 teens, so I'm of the social beaten path.

Thanks! Progress on the car has slowed as my wife and I have been driving it every weekend to car shows and fall festivals. Boost is still a bit soft but otherwise, it's running great. There's a long list for winter. What kind of SAAB is keeping you busy?

I don't have one yet, but I have spotted a 92 sky blue/silver-ish 900 non turbo hatchback with a 5spd locally. The guy wants only a few bucks for the car. My main concern is body corrosion. It looks very clean with virtually no rust, but I need a closer look. If I buy it, I will convert it to a turbo and I'll be sure to upload it! Keep up the great videos and thanks for all your video contributions. These are very entertaining to watch!
@LeeKelso

If you really want a turbo, buy a turbo - lots available. The conversion process is more complex than you might suspect. SAAB's APC system which controls the boost level has a number of components you would need to install to achieve reliability.

If you are having intermittent cruise and basic boost only, take a look at the two switches in the L/H front wheel well, slightly behind the charcoal canister (usually have red and blue caps). One is wired into the boost circuit. If it's bad, all you get is basic boost.

How to replace the lower radiator hose on 1991 Saab 900
@philwags

Two questions: 1. Before repairing the cables did you move the side that was working all the way forward or all the way back to start (to "un-twist" or level it out )? 2. Did the cable repair fix the lever issue as well? Thanks!
@LeeKelso
@LeeKelso 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I got the seat lined up as square as possible before starting the process. It's now been a couple years since that repair and it's still working just fine. The seat back latch is working as it should on the driver's side, but only sometimes on the passenger. I always manually lower the lever just to make sure the seatback is locked in place.

@@LeeKelso Thanks! Sorry if it was a dumb question - just getting back into Saabs, last one I did any work on was replacing CV joints on a 1972 99 Bobtail. I haven't touched a wrench in 30 years but I just had a 1992 Convertible fall into my lap and decided I'm going to try and bring it back to it's former glory.

@LeeKelso

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. It's very simple. A couple of bolts at the front of each seat rail come out, tilt them to the rear and they just lift away. Very simple. Hope that helps.

Both really glad I found this video for the seat repair (my '89 SPG pax seat was doing the same thing) and for the replacement leather company. My '89 SPG (aka 'Modena') is gonna need some new leather when she's finished, and the '86 SPG I hope to buy soon (already picked out 'Hopewell' for her) is definitely gonna need some new leather as well. If you're in the Fort Wayne area, I believe Kelly Cadillac may still have some of their SAAB master techs around. You may try asking them about some of the weird problems you've encountered. I was in there a while back looking for some parts when I was visiting my folks there in Fort Wayne.

Hit me up next time you're in town. Last time I checked, most of those guys had moved on. I tracked one of them down and call on him from time to time. He's running an independent shop working on Volvos and such. The Facebook SAAB groups are a tremendous resource that I tap into often.

Hi Lee! i have a 92' 900 S convertible with power seats. the power seats blow a fuse every time i try to move the seat backrest forward. Is there any fix for this?
@LeeKelso
@LeeKelso 4 жыл бұрын
My knowledge is pretty thin but here goes: your seat has different motors for different movements. The motor for seat recline has seized or has another issue. They should be widely available as used items. The seats themselves are easily removed and I will be doing that soon as me heated seats aren’t working.

Hey Lee! Love your videos! As for your tail light problems, check to make sure the correct bulbs are in the sockets with the correct filaments. Single filament bulb to single metal connector. I had a bunch of problems in my car until I finally checked the bulbs and saw that they were all mix matched. Keep on making vids!
