The most impressive part was how the torpedo ignored the submarine decoy. It remains to be seen how effective SLWT will be, but Swedish technology is excellent.

@@saleemkirmani5583 It is the same tech as in RBS 17 mk4 Gugnir in reverse. Missile if you try to jam it missile locks on the jammer, here if you try to decoy it ignores it and stays on target. Saab has a lot of great stuff going on and has vast EW tech resources/knowledge from Gripen E, Global Eye and Meteor, A26, Escalibur, Strix, Nlaw, and so on.

214 takes heavyweight torpedoes, 21 inch diameter, about 20 + foot long, weighing a couple of tons. This is a lightweight torpedo, about 13 inches diameter, a lot shorter and lighter and much shorter range. Heavyweights carried by subs and Russian ships. Lightweight by aircraft, helicopters and Western ships.

That system was test (most recent in the US Navy) but not enough efficient and too costly. In submarine the space is limited so navies prefer invest in better decoy

The antisubmarine force is almost always bigger and more equipped than a single sub can ever dream to be. You kill one torpedo, they will launch 2 more. Your best bet is to stay undetected or to escape. Your defense is decoys and stealth

This would be a very good solution for the Ukranian Navy currently. They are being shut with cruise missiles from submarines in the Black Sea. There are "only" seven submarines in Sebastopol, so it'll take around 14 to address these. Great animation btw!

Sweden has extensive practice however courtesy Soviet snooping. This weapon is literally designed to completely screw them over with prior experiences in mind - keenly note the planned 2nd torpedo dropped for escape denial purposes. They're not gonna get away the next time which serves as an excellent deterrent for the future, see: U-2 Cuba+Sverdlosk.
