Thanks for expanding your followers knowledge about cars they wouldn't ordinarily consider. This vehicle isn't a "saab" story but, instead a real steal. If they can make great fighter jets and keep them in the hunt, they sure can make a 4 passenger car and keep it on the road.

A few more differences between the 05 Subaru WRX and 05 Saab 92x Aero: The latter has active headrests, it has the steering rack from the STi as well as many stiffer STi suspension components, if you have the manual with the 17" rims option (215/45R17 tyres) it also has the STi "big" brake kit (297mm rotors up front and bigger pads.) Source: I have a manual 2005 92x Aero with the 17" rims option, the winter pack and a few "fun" mods: 3" STi exhaust, lowered suspension with poly bushings, ECU tune which gives me just under 270HP at the wheels. Sadly it also has rust (Canada) in all the areas you point out yours doesn't but at 162.000 miles I can't complain too much but yeah - it's a sleeper. When launched right and mostly due to the excellent AWD grip, the 0-40MPH on it is scandalous and leaves many with their jaw dropped.

Saab didn't buy the rights to this car, GM owned Saab and Fuji heavy industries ,who owns Subaru, and they arranged everything so Saab had a car in this segment

I bought a new 92x aero in 2005. That year GM was in a pinch and dropped the price on its new inventory. The 92x was below the Subaru WRX price. I thought I was much better looking than the 2005 Subaru WRX. I used it mainly to drive San Diego to Lake Tahoe and it still runs fine and is fun to drive. If I ever wear it out, it might be fun to revive it as a STI with 300 HP.

Thinking about a 9-2X Linear or 2.5i with manual. Would I be looking for the same trouble spots? I'm used to Frontiers, change the oil every 5K miles and let it go around 300K. How does the SAAB Impreza maintenance compare?

Got a question for you. I have a linear 92x 05. I’m planning on putting in a turbo in it and a new exhaust. Would that bring it up to speed with the aero and the wrx or would it still run like a regular old Impreza

Awesome video. Great info on a historic badging and cool marriage. I was a 79 Saab turbo 5-door owner for years. I have Subaru now. I also have an '03' PT GT w/SRT4 mods. Very cool and hot. Let me know if you find one with a Keystone GoodHood single inlet ram hood.
