I got rid of my '94 F150 with the 300, but traded it in for an '01 F250 with the 7.3. With only 140k on the odometer, I have no plans of getting rid of this truck. I've owned it for 16 years now, and havent had a vehicle payment in well over a decade. I can't even fathom buying a modern truck.

The Ford 300 series engine was AMAZING. I bought a 96 Ford F150 back in 2021 and i did not check the oil. When I did about 2 weeks later, the engine was bone dry, even opening the oil pan and nothing but a little drip coming out. This engine is a beast

Vortec engines lasted a long long time, so GM decided to put a stop to that nonsense and quit making them.

If it works great, deny it does and make crappier ones. Got it.

How come 351 Windsor engine didn’t make it on the list? I’m still running it in my 1995 passenger van and it works great with 245K miles.

What?!!! My 2002 Tacoma with a V-6 is not even mentioned? Mine is purring like a kitten and uses no oil while pushing 300k miles.

Glad to see the slant six made the list. Is the best engine ever built in my opinion. Hate the Chrysler 3.9 and chevy 4.3 wasn't mentioned. Both are great engines as well

Honorable mentions should be the Ford 2.3/2.5 Lima, Chev's 4.3, and Dodge's 5.2

It’s hard to argue with this list.

People wonder why the slant\6 is so reliable? = _Willem Weertman_ helped invent it as he was the engineer that also helped later design the legendary 426 v8 as that elephant motor uses the slant\6's oversized main bearings.
@jesseduke69412 сағат бұрын
The 426 hemi uses the same size main bearings as the 413 & 440. Large main bearings are not always a good thing. They are harder to oil & they create more heat the larger they are.

the /6 was designed to be alumin so everything was beefed up, then they changed their minds and went with iron.

Because no one wants a 235 hp V8 that gets 9 mpg in the year 2024.

@@user-mh5qg5jb7d Have you even been paying attention? These old engines likely welcomed by most, the reason is draconian emissions.
