This review is stellar. Very in depth. I Got a 289 from a 66 fairlane I’m working on. I’m keeping it stock. For classic cars love the 63-67 cars the best.

My first car was a "67 with a post-I always thought they had the best styling, but this "65 is beautiful. Mine was a 289 also, and I kept the engine all these years, after the unibody failed from rust. I always hoped to find another body to drop my engine into-maybe someday.Thank you very much for this video!

Love this. Looking right now for a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 resto-project for my dad before March for a birthday present, and a 1953 Ford Customline for my grandfather before April for his. Both were their 1st cars.

+SuchANiceGirl22 Cool. My parents had a lovely new gold '65 Ford Galaxie 500. I was 9-years-old when they bought it and I remember a few evenings coming back from shopping when I would stretch-out in the back seat and fall asleep. It was so comfortable that my mom used to have to fight with me to get me out of the car and into the house when we got home. :) Good luck in your search.

I think you did a fine job of presenting this car. You obviously have a passion for older classic cars including the early generations of American Muscle cars like the Fairlane model. It's a passion I share as when I lived and worked in Los Angeles I was lucky enough to acquire a 66 Fairlane GT with the 390 Ford Big Block and the Ford variant of the Holley 750 CFM DOUBLE PUMPER CARB. The car was painted Ivy Gold with Flat Black Trim and the full GT Package. Well done!

Congrats on owning that beauty,Kyle. I had a 65 Galaxy 2 dr. that I installed a 289 2 barrel and a 3 speed stick. I beat the crap outta that engine and it took every bit. All I did to that car was replace several transmissions and frequent oil changes.

what a nice car. Ford really trimmed out its premium models, such as this Sports Coupe and the Galaxie XL and Falcon Futura, in the mid-sixties to a degree you would never again see. Back then, even in the Ford Total Performance years, the emphasis was on comfort and trimmed out luxury. Great colors on this car too. Kyle, I hope you're still enjoying this awesome car...it was a great find!

What a beautiful car.. makes me think about how far we came from the original ideas of what a car should be.. and yet, how some things were better back then. For example, the way the windows open up for front and rear passengers as a sort of panoramic design.. I love that. Seems like cars back then were made for the experience of driving/cruising, modern cars are more emphasized on speed and horsepower.

I have a 1965 Ford Fairlane Sports Coupe also, mine is the 4 speed version, bucket seats console around 114,000 miles. Wimbelton white with black top. It has only had 1 repaint , about 3 to 4 months ago .It is the 289 , 225 horse power, hydraulic lifters, 10 to 1 compression. Interior is original, no repairs. The only thing I have done is added a Eldebrock top end kit, with a hydraulic version of the 271 solid lifter 289. I kept all the original parts to put back on , if I chose to later. I also am changing rear gears to 3.55, where it was stock with 3.0 rear gears. I know a lot call this the ugly duckling, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this was similar to the first car I had bought in 1974.

Man that color combo is fantastic. Because of the manual 3 speed w/OD "freewheeling" aspect in OD (it coasted downhill without any engine braking) it was outlawed a couple of years later. Think the last year available was 1967 or so. So very few people every ordered one with OD in the 1960s. They were slightly more common in the 1940s and 1950s. Mine was a 4 speed car with 4bbl, dual exhausts and A/C. That was way back in 1979 though. Mine was beige. An automatic overdrive transmission sure would have come in handy in the 1970s though!

I have never been a huge fan of the 65 Fairlane but I have to say. You did such a great presentation of this car that you have made a 65 fan out of me bro!
