Jeff can i use regular bearing grease for microlube? Loctite wise i have 243 (blue threadlock) and 2701 (green retaining compound). Am i good to go?

You don’t need microlube, that’s just the grease I like and use. You can use any grease that’s not petroleum-based. Any synthetic wheel bearing grease will work just fine as well. Yes everything looks good on the loctite.

Hi Jeff, Thanks for creating these great build videos. Have a Blade Fusion 360 Smart and new to SAB helis. Looking at the RAW 500 or the RAW 580. Any recommendations?

Hi, do you think new Scorpion esc tribunus 3 -110 Amp can fit to a raw 500...sport flight only not 3d..?

Yes definitely, it will fit and work. If you plan to do hard 3D later on you can always upgrade!

Hey Jeff just curious. Do I need a program box to center those Theta servos your installing? Or do you just do all that in the Ikon at the end?

You don’t need it but it makes it easier ish to do it all in the servo and no sub trim in the FBL. I do it both ways. It’s a pain in the ass to use the theta program box so I don’t normally do it unless the servo is way off.

Hi Jeff. Got my Raw 500 kit few days ago. Now waiting for the 3x KST x15-1809 and KST x15-855x. And X-Nova 4020-900kv. I guess it will be a nice heli :)

Got a raw 580 in june, put some x15 1809 and yes they rock ! Very fast and solid servo, for the tail i took the x20 1035 and they're really good !

Hello! That will be a fantastic combination. KST makes a good servo! The motor is massive on this thing! It should have tons of power!

Hey Jeff, Nice video. I am building on right now as well. Just curious on one thing. I noticed you did not use the rubber servo vibration pieces to mount the servos. Thoughts on that?

Thank you! I hope the videos are helpful! So I don’t run the rubber grommets on anything but a nitro model. They allow movement in the servo witch is great to absorb vibrations on a nitro model, but it is not needed on a electric model.

Hello Jeff, great video as usual. I’ve already built my Raw 500 with the Xnova motor, hw 120v4, theta servos, microbeast flight control and Futaba sb2001/16iz. It flies and has flown flawlessly from flight #1 with no adjustments whatsoever. It’s smooth as glass and handles beautifully. Two things that you might mention in part two of your video series: 1) the battery latch should be assembled with grease prior to installation. This is noted in the Raw 420 instructions and makes the latch operation much nicer. 2) The motor on this model spins in the same direction as the main rotor blades. The direction of rotation for the motor will most likely need to be reversed with a program box for your particular speed control as most are set up to spin counterclockwise and this could lead to some serious confusion/frustration. Keep up the excellent work!

Thank you for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I am very excited to fly this one. Looks to be the perfect in between size from the 420 and 580 which I enjoy both of them very much! If you watch from 8:30 seconds on, you will see the battery latch assembly, which a micro lubed just like every other 420 build. It’s always a 50-50 shot depending on how you wire your motor lol I normally reverse it in the ESC anyways, all SAB helicopters spin the same direction as the rotor, clockwise.

How much do you charge to do a build? I am starting a company and don't have time to compete my kit. I built a 550 and. 700 TREX but never flew them. I want a RAW.

That’s hard! Both are great. I think the RAW 500 flys slightly better but I don’t have enough flights on it yet to say that for sure.

Great video as always, kind of unrelated question, but when you're setting up pitch curves, why do you never want to change the 50% point? Somebody asked me and I knew you weren't supposed to, but I couldn't remember the reason. Thanks Jeff

Thank you, so it’s because 50% is mid stick. So if you change that in your pitch and say your normal is 40 at the 50 mark and your Idle 1 is 50 when you switch the heli will drop or jump and you won’t have a smooth pitch range though out your flight modes.

for sure I will be buying one 500 soon, what means 2.5 Y in the xnova motor? and second how are you going to center the servos at perfect 90 degrees if they are already installed?

It’s a fantastic heli! So the Y is the type of windings of the stator in the motor. So I always center my servos before installing them in the heli with a program box. If you don’t a program box I highly recommend picking on up for your servos! Awesome tool!
