I've tried both this and the SMSL SA300. They are both great amps, and sound very similar, but I preferred the Sabaj, largely due to the design and the benefit of having the integrated power supply. The SA300 has USB and bluetooth, but the DAC isn't the best, so it's best to use a dedicated DAC anyway.
@hankhill54093 жыл бұрын
I just ordered the Sabaj but as soon as he said it was sonically identical to the SA300 I was going to cancel it. Until I read your comment, thanks for posting it. I wouldnt have thought about the quality of the dac. I also like the integrated power supply.

Hello love your reviews! I have been thinking of buying this sabaj but want something neutral like DA9 that you reviewed. I am bit lost now because you describe the sabaj as warm. Is the tone really that different given the similarities and the absence of an internal dac to influence it? Thanks!
@iiWiReviews3 жыл бұрын
For some reason it is. DA-9 is quicker, punchier, and layers better. This one is warmer, with softer bassline and less kick. One possible reason why is different power supply. In any amplifier, power supply is basically half of the design.
@WHo-vf1oz3 жыл бұрын

Lol…no offence but I returned mine in favour of the Aiyima A04 with modded toroidal inductors and an switched op amp. Better control over the bass. I found the SA300 and the A10A bass boring, little control and even less low end wallop…slack attack.

@@tallpaull9367 I paired the Aiyima A04 (after modding) with a pair of 28 year old Mission 751 speakers and the results were very pleasing indeed. The advantage Aiyima give their customers at the moment is they can change the op amps very easily thus allowing you the consumer to tailor the sound signature. I have tried a few different op amps with the A04 and currently I am using the opa2604 9 (a warmer op amp, very easy to listen to over longer periods of time) which really works well with the Mission 751 speaker.

I now have the amp. I'm using it on the desktop with ELAC Debut B4 speakers and iFi Micro DAC 2/Micro iUSB3.0. For the price it's good. This isn't a giant killer. It's just a good piece of equipment at a reasonable price. It's got a couple of problems - the control knob is a little loose and the remote doesn't always work. I can live with that. Your description of the sound is consistent with what I'm hearing. Will it replace my Cary Audio SLP-05 preamp and First Watt M2x power amp in my main system? Of course not. It isn't meant to do that. As an affordable desktop amp in a modest system it works fine. I'm keeping it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
